About the Role: 

We are seeking an experienced n8n Workflow Developer with expertise in building, automating, and optimizing workflows using the n8n automation platform. This is a contractor role based in Chennai, India, and you will report to the Director of Architecture. The ideal candidate will also have strong experience in developing custom n8n nodes to extend platform functionality, integrate third-party APIs, and support business-specific use cases. This role requires a blend of workflow design, API integration, and backend development skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Workflow Development & Automation: Design, implement, and optimize workflows in n8n for process automation, data transformation, and system integration. Translate business requirements into scalable automation solutions. Debug, test, and maintain workflows to ensure reliability and efficiency.
• Custom Node Development: Design and build custom n8n nodes in TypeScript/JavaScript for integrating new APIs, services, and data sources. Extend existing nodes with new capabilities and maintain compatibility with n8n’s framework. Write reusable, modular, and well-documented code.
• API & System Integration: Work with REST, GraphQL, gRPC, Webhooks, and other integration protocols. Securely manage authentication methods such as OAuth2, API keys, and JWT. Integrate n8n with databases (SQL/NoSQL), cloud storage, messaging platforms, and other SaaS tools.
• Collaboration & Support: Partner with product managers, business analysts, and DevOps teams to automate workflows and improve system efficiency. Provide technical documentation and training for internal teams. Support monitoring, troubleshooting, and enhancements of automation processes.

• Technical Expertise and Background:
  • Proven experience with n8n workflow automation (hands-on workflow building).
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript (required for custom node development).
  • Solid understanding of REST APIs, Webhooks, GraphQL, and authentication mechanisms.
  • Experience integrating with SaaS applications (e.g., Google APIs, AWS, Azure, Salesforce, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Docker, Git, and CI/CD workflows for deploying automation.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and optimization skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Highly Favorable Skills:

• Experience with n8n workflow optimizations.
• Knowledge of databases (Postgres, MySQL) and message queues (Kafka, SQS, Pubsub).
• Familiarity with DevOps/SRE practices for workflow monitoring and scaling.
• Prior contributions to n8n community or open-source projects is an added advantage.
