About the Role

To strengthen our IT department we are currently looking for a passionate .NET Application Development Engineer to join our Team, a self-organized, cross functional team in the IGO/NGO Release Train within Cigna's International Markets. Together with the team, you will take ownership of its supported applications, continuously improving and extending them and making sure they keep running smoothly in the production environment ("You build it, you run it.")

You are customer oriented while keeping performance in mind. You keep an overall view on all components of the applications in the scrum teams portfolio and know how to find the right balance between future-proof solutions and fast-to-market requirements. You have a business drive, passion for technology and are eager to learn. Above all, you have a can-do attitude where you roll up your sleeves and just do it.

As a .NET Application Development Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and ongoing support of backend applications that power Cigna’s claims processes. Working within a cross‑functional Agile team, you will play a key role in building high-performing, reliable solutions while continuously learning and growing in a dynamic environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain backend .NET applications supporting claims operations
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions in collaboration with architects and cross-functional teams
  • Take end-to-end ownership of applications, ensuring performance, reliability, and production stability
  • Write clean, maintainable code supported by automated unit and integration tests
  • Contribute to technical design decisions, architecture documentation, and coding standards
  • Identify and implement improvements across both functional and technical areas
  • Collaborate within an Agile (Scrum/SAFe) environment to deliver business value on time
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in .NET backend development
  • Strong proficiency in C#, .NET, and MS SQL development using Visual Studio
  • Ability to translate functional requirements into technical design and estimates
  • Strong communication skills with fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Experience working both independently and within collaborative Agile teams
SkillsTechnical / Functional Skills
  • .NET development (C#) and MS SQL
  • Software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles
  • Backend architecture and design
  • Version control tools (Git / TFS)
  • Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps Pipelines)
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe)
