The Numerical Modeler/Coastal Engineer will develop numerical models for coastal processes, design structures, assess climate change impacts, and prepare reports while collaborating with teams.
Job Description
We are seeking a talented and experienced Numerical modeler/ Coastal Engineer to join our team in Chennai, India. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and applying numerical models to analyze coastal processes, design of coastal structures like breakwater, coastal protection, dykes, bund, seawall,groins etc, and assess the impacts of climate change on coastal environments.
- Develop and apply advanced numerical models to simulate coastal hydrodynamics, sediment transport, and morphological changes
- Conduct data analysis and interpretation of field measurements and model results
- Design and evaluate coastal protection structures and shoreline management strategies
- Assess the impacts of climate change on coastal environments and propose adaptation measures
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and project deliverables for clients and stakeholders
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on complex coastal engineering projects
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in coastal engineering and numerical modeling techniques
- Contribute to proposal writing and business development activities
- Design of coastal structures like breakwater, coastal protection, dykes, bund, seawall,groins etc, using relevant codes and guidelines
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Coastal Engineering, Marine Structures, Ocean Engineering, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in coastal engineering or a related field
- Proficiency in numerical modeling software such as MIKE, Delft3D, or SWAN
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, MATLAB, or R
- Excellent data analysis and visualization skills
- In-depth knowledge of coastal processes and hydrodynamics
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work efficiently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel for field work and client meetings when required
