Job Overview
The Principal IT Pillar Specialist - Subsea Engineering IT Tool Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing specialized engineering software and IT tools used in subsea and offshore projects. This role ensures seamless integration, user support, and compliance with company standards, enabling engineering teams to perform design and installation analysis efficiently.
ResponsibilitiesKey Tasks and Responsibilities
- Tool Administration & Maintenance
- Install, configure, and maintain subsea engineering software (e.g., installation analysis tools, design packages).
- Manage software licenses, updates, and ensure compliance with vendor agreements.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot technical issues related to engineering tools.
- User Support & Training
- Provide technical support to engineering teams for tool usage and problem resolution.
- Develop and deliver training sessions for engineers on proprietary and industry-standard software.
- Create and maintain user guides, FAQs, and best practice documentation.
- Integration & Data Management
- Ensure proper integration of engineering tools with project management systems and databases.
- Manage data security, backups, and version control for engineering files and models.
- Support workflows for data exchange between disciplines and external parties.
- Process Improvement
- Collaborate with engineering leads to identify tool enhancements and automation opportunities.
- Participate in global initiatives for standardization of software and procedures.
- Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement of IT tool usage.
- Compliance & Governance
- Ensure adherence to company IT policies, cybersecurity standards, and legal requirements.
- Support audits and verification processes related to software and data integrity.
Essential Qualifications and Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, IT, or Computer Science with a strong technical background.
- Proven experience in administering and supporting engineering software tools (e.g., OrcaFlex, Abaqus, ANSYS, or similar subsea applications).
- Solid understanding of software licensing models, IT security principles, and data management best practices.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes, and guidelines applicable to subsea engineering.
- Knowledge of fundamental design techniques and analysis methodologies.
- Hands-on experience in installation engineering and analysis for subsea infrastructure, including rigid pipelines, flexible flowlines, risers, and subsea structures.
- Proficiency with industry-standard analysis tools (e.g., OrcaFlex, MCS Pipelay, Abaqus) and commonly used subsea installation codes and standards.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and capability to deliver training and support to engineering teams.
