The role:
Templafy is looking for a Design Manager who can lead by doing. You’ll guide a small but mighty team consisting of 2 Product Designers, 1 Design Program Manager, and 1 User Researcher, while staying hands-on in design yourself. Half leadership, half craft - all impact, building a product used by millions, daily.
You’ll shape design in our Edit: Word product area, where we’re reinventing how people create and edit documents at scale. You’ll work closely with our Product Design Director, who sets the overall product design strategy. Your job is to make sure that vision comes to life, raising the quality of execution, growing the team’s skills, and ensuring design work lands with impact.

What you’ll do:

Design ownership

  • Take the lead on user journeys within Edit: Word, from first sketch to polished interface.
  • Test ideas with users early and often, and refine based on what you learn.
  • Partner closely with product and engineering to make sure what we ship feels right.

Team leadership

  • Partner with the Product Design Director to translate strategy into day-to-day execution across your team.
  • Mentor and support designers, helping them sharpen their craft and grow their careers.
  • Set high standards for design quality, process, and collaboration—and make them stick.
  • Represent the design process at the leadership table, shaping roadmaps and priorities within your area.
  • Build a team culture that values curiosity, learning, and user-first thinking.

What we’re looking for:

  • 6+ years in product design, including at least 2 years leading or managing others.
  • A portfolio that shows strong, user-centred design across digital products.
  • Experience mentoring designers and driving design initiatives forward.
  • Mastery of Figma and comfort with usability testing and research.
  • Strong communicator and collaborator across functions.
  • Knowledge of accessibility and design systems.
  • Bonus: experience designing with AI, or bringing AI into your own workflow.

What you’ll get:

  • A design team that is highly engaged.
  • The chance to shape both product and design culture at Templafy.
  • Space to experiment with AI-driven workflows as we expand our product.
  • Hybrid work model, flexible hours, and a budget for your development.
  • Competitive pay benchmarked against Copenhagen’s tech scene.

Employee Benefits:

  • Employee equity program
  • Private health insurance
  • Company lunch contribution
  • Phone and broadband covered by company
  • Centrally located office – easy access to public transportation
  • Company events and team activities
  • Flexible work environment
  • Gympass Subscription
  • Calm App Subscription

What you need to know about the Chennai Tech Scene

To locals, it's no secret that South India is leading the charge in big data infrastructure. While the environmental impact of data centers has long been a concern, emerging hubs like Chennai are favored by companies seeking ready access to renewable energy resources, which provide more sustainable and cost-effective solutions. As a result, Chennai, along with neighboring Bengaluru and Hyderabad, is poised for significant growth, with a projected 65 percent increase in data center capacity over the next decade.
