Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The Surfscan group includes a team of engineers, technology development, apps engineers and product marketing focused on technology that enables wafer, IC and equipment manufacturers to develop, qualify and monitor their process tools. Defects and process non-uniformities detected on Surfscan equipment allow for early identification of yield excursions. The flagship Surfscan products include the SPx platforms for wafer surface quality and wafer defect inspection tools and systems for inspection of polished wafers, epi wafers and engineered substrates during the wafer fabrication process.

Surfscan-ADE is looking to hire an energetic, self-driven individual to be part of a team of remote systems engineers who will work closely with service teams and customers to identify and implement product improvements which will lead to long-term product adoption and customer success. These activities will include the development and release of new options, features or other improvements that provide more value to our customers. Integral to this role is an understanding of the customers use-case and successfully working in conjunction with other groups to define the requirements. Must have the ability to follow through and release / support these product enhancements effectively. Trains service and manufacturing employees. Required to travel to customer sites to efficiently and effectively resolve technical issues (Fly and Fix) during and after product release.

Key Responsibilities:
Be part of remote systems engineers team with long-term travel to customer sites for support and engagement
Team will support development and implementation of product improvements for existing and pre-release products to provide maximum value to the customer
Perform product diagnosis and problem resolution on high level escalations and interface with applications, software, and other engineering to verify the hardware & software problems have been resolved
Support projects to standardize findings from high level field escalations to prevent repeat occurrences
Work with customer to better understand use-cases and work with development team in HQ to shape the product improvements
Focus on projects related to new product introduction such as characterization, alpha testing, beta testing and pilot tools in the ramp phase as required
Generate best known method documents, design notes, and work with product support team to transfer product knowledge to tech support and field service teams
Generate escalations and standardization reports for internal and customer review

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering (Preferably in the field of Physics, Electrical, Mechanical or Material Science)

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience

  • Preferred (not mandatory) work experiences in semiconductor processing or equipment industry.

  • Must have excellent communication, organizational, analytical, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

  • Must be self-driven, and a strong team player.

  • Good hands-on ability with demonstrated success on hardware related projects

  • Up to 80% of world-wide travelling would be required.
