Drivetrain is on a mission to empower businesses to make better decisions. Our financial planning & decision-making platform helps companies scale and achieve their targets predictably.

Drivetrain is a remote-first company headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded in 2021 by a couple of ex-Googlers, Drivetrain is a fast-growing company on a trajectory for success with backing from leading venture capital firms.

Drivetrain provides a great culture for its employees to thrive in and be happy.

💜 Remote-friendly: Drivetrain brings together the best and the brightest, no matter where they are and provides them a great degree of autonomy. We trust our people.
🗣️ Open & transparent:  We know that when our creators have access to all the information they need, their best work will emerge.
👏 Idea-friendly:  We provide an environment to explore new ideas, to take risks, to make mistakes, and to learn, so you can succeed. Anyone in the company can come up with great ideas and become a catalyst for positive change. We let the best ideas win.
👥 Customer-centric:  We follow a product-led growth strategy, continuously  learning from our customers and collaborating to build the amazing software that Drivetrain is.

About the role

We're looking for someone to own product marketing at Drivetrain end to end.

That means being the bridge between what we build and how the market understands it: sharpening how we position against legacy EPM incumbents and spreadsheet inertia, running launches that land, arming our sales team with narratives that win competitive deals, and driving in-app adoption so customers go deeper into the product rather than plateauing after onboarding.

This is a builder's role, not a maintenance one. You'll be defining the function — the messaging architecture, the launch process, the competitive intelligence program — and as the team grows, hiring and developing the people who run it.

What you'll be doing

Positioning and messaging

  • Own the company narrative and product-level messaging: why Drivetrain, why now, why not the alternative. Make it specific enough that a finance buyer feels understood.
  • Build and maintain the messaging architecture across personas (CFO, VP Finance, FP&A manager) and segments, and hold the organization to it.
  • Develop pricing and packaging recommendations in partnership with Product and Sales, grounded in willingness-to-pay research rather than instinct.

Go-to-market and launches

  • Run product launches end to end — tiering, positioning, enablement, content, timing, and post-launch measurement. Define what a successful launch looks like before it ships.
  • Partner closely with Product on roadmap inputs, bringing market and competitive evidence into prioritization conversations.

Adoption and expansion

  • Drive in-app product adoption in partnership with Product and Customer Success: onboarding narratives, feature discovery, lifecycle messaging. Increase usage and stickiness, and turn that into retention and expansion.
  • Instrument it. Know which cohorts are adopting what, and why the others aren't.

Content and demand

  • Set the editorial bar for everything we publish — research reports, whitepapers, case studies, website copy — and defend the difference between genuinely good content and filler.
  • Partner with Demand Gen to make sure campaigns are built on messaging that converts, not just channels that spend.

Team

  • Manage and develop product marketers as the team scales; in the near term, expect to be hands-on in the work yourself.
What you'll bring
  • 5–12 years in B2B SaaS marketing, with at least 4 in product marketing and meaningful experience marketing to technical or financial buyers.
  • A track record of owning positioning for a product or product line — not just executing launches someone else scoped.
  • Exceptional written communication. You'll be judged on your writing, and so will we.
  • Strong analytical instincts: comfortable in product analytics and GTM data, and able to build a case from evidence rather than assertion.
  • Experience selling into or marketing to finance teams (FP&A, EPM, accounting, fintech) is a strong plus.
  • People management or mentorship experience, or a clear readiness for it.
  • Self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity. This is a role with a lot of surface area and not a lot of existing scaffolding.
Why this role

You'd be defining how a category-challenging product gets understood, at a stage where your decisions actually stick. Direct access to leadership, a product that finance teams genuinely like using, and no layers between you and the customer.

What you need to know about the Chennai Tech Scene

To locals, it's no secret that South India is leading the charge in big data infrastructure. While the environmental impact of data centers has long been a concern, emerging hubs like Chennai are favored by companies seeking ready access to renewable energy resources, which provide more sustainable and cost-effective solutions. As a result, Chennai, along with neighboring Bengaluru and Hyderabad, is poised for significant growth, with a projected 65 percent increase in data center capacity over the next decade.
