The Product Owner will work with multiple scrum teams to analyze requirements, maintain the team backlog, and ensure quality deliverables for Viavi's Lab and Production product range. Responsibilities include prioritizing backlog items, facilitating sprint planning, and coordinating with other Product Owners during Program Increments, while leveraging various product management tools.
Summary:
As a Product Owner you will be responsible for working with other Product Owners, Business Units and Architects to analyse, understand and document complex requirements for Viavi’s Lab and Production product range. You will contribute to the Viavi ONE LabPro product line and be heavily involved in the preparation, planning and execution of Program Increments (SAFe). This is a critical role that contributes to define and improve the products, enable the development teams and validate the team deliverables.

Key Responsibilities
- You will work day-to-day with multiple scrum teams:
- Grooming the team backlogs by breaking down program requirements into stories: defining the “WHAT”, “WHY”, acceptance criteria and relative priority
- Contributing to daily updates, sprint planning, sprint reviews and retrospectives
- Act as quality control by defining the acceptance criteria and validate the team deliverables
- Accountability for backlog refinement and prep for PI planning, playing a significant role in the planning event itself
- Defining Stories and prioritising the team backlog to streamline the execution of program priorities while maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of the features or components for the team
- Accountable for quality, defining acceptance criteria and accepting stories as done
- Work with the teams to ensure priorities are maintained for features and defects throughout the PI
- Review and reprioritise the backlog as part of the prep work for Iteration Planning, including coordination of dependencies with other Product Owners
- During PI preparation the PO is accountable for coordinating dependencies with other POs to ensure what is required from each team is clearly defined
- Provide training information and demo’s if required for new feature delivered by their teams
Your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
- Strong engineering background and degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics
- Have experience as Product Owner, Business Analyst or Product Manager
- Ability and willingness to work methodically within a defined process to produce high quality software:
- Previously worked in SAFe or Scrum environments
- Eager to work in an agile set-up continuously improving your agile skills
- Ability to manage complex and multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment:
- Proven leadership skills to motivate, coach and inspire at all levels
- Ability to solve significant and unique issues using variable factors
- Experienced in creating, maintaining and prioritising product backlogs using product management tools (Jira):
- Excellent at breaking epic level items into appropriately sized user stories, with the correct level of detail and acceptance criteria required
- Able to discuss & evaluate technical architecture recommendations
- Ability to work in dynamic and fast moving/changing development
- Strong collaboration and team working skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships cross-functionally and across all levels
- Able to influence senior stakeholders and business owners
- The ability to influence change: lead by example, and make recommendations on strategic decisions
- Comprehensive communication skills, both verbal and written
Technology Domain competencies
- Experience in product development related to network protocol usage, configuration, and graphical displays of results for Ethernet, IP, TCP, and protocol payloads
- 7+ years developing web applications, including the use of HTML5, CSS, Javascript, and Typescript
- 5+ years developing responsive web-based applications using Angular
- Ability to write clear, portable, maintainable and efficient code.
- Ability to write concise and accurate documentation.
- Familiar with creating and using web-socket communications and JSON-RPC API’s
- Experience profiling and optimizing the application
- Experience in Continuous Integration and delivery pipelines (eg. Jenkins, Bamboo)
- Configuration management and test coverage tools (eg. JIRA, JIRA X-ray)
- Version control tools (eg. GIT, Bit Bucket)
