About the role

Project Manager

As a Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for delivering Sustainable Business Energy Solutions SBES projects from the point of sale through to customer handover — ensuring strong commercial outcomes for AGL and exceptional experiences for our customers.

You will oversee the systematic delivery of commercial energy projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with Project Engineers and Sales teams, you’ll help shape technical solutions that meet customer requirements and position AGL as a trusted energy partner.

A key part of your role will be managing the customer relationship throughout the project lifecycle — providing consistent, professional, and authentic communication to ensure a smooth journey from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end‑to‑end delivery of commercial solar and storage projects, ensuring delivery to scope, budget, schedule, safety, and quality requirements.

  • Coordinate across Engineering, Project Coordinators, Distribution, suppliers, and contractors to ensure seamless project execution and timely material and equipment delivery.

  • Manage customer and subcontractor relationships, including negotiation of terms, variations, and resolving issues to minimise delays and maintain professional partnerships.

  • Oversee project controls—dates, budgets, orders, costs, and system updates (e.g., NetSuite)—to maintain accurate project status, forecasts, and compliance with internal processes.

  • Engage and performance‑manage installation contractors and suppliers to ensure high‑quality, cost‑efficient delivery and strong safety performance.

  • Conduct onsite inspections to maintain visibility of progress, validate safety and installation standards, and foster strong site relationships.

  • Manage project close‑out, including O&M documentation, STC/LGC requirements, invoicing, customer handover, and capturing lessons learned.

About you

  • Proven experience in project management or engineering, with strong capability to work independently, including in remote environments.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering or a related field (preferred but not essential).

  • Proven ability to manage third‑party contractors and drive safe, high‑quality delivery.

  • Strong stakeholder and customer management skills, with clear and accurate communication and high attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety, supported by relevant training or certifications (e.g., Working at Heights).

  • Industry knowledge advantageous, including PV regulations, CEC accreditation, rooftop solar experience, familiarity with SMA/SolarEdge products, and systems such as NetSuite, Procore and CAD.

What We Offer

  • Flexible work options, including hybrid arrangements and an extra week of recharge leave annually.

  • Exclusive perks, such as discounts on energy, telco, and solar plans, plus novated leasing and EV subscriptions.

  • Support and recognition, with 20 weeks paid parental leave for primary carers, study assistance, and our Energise reward program.

  • Additional benefits, including share purchase plans, insurance deals, and opportunities to contribute to diversity and inclusion initiatives.

*Benefits may change over time and vary based on role type and location.

If you’re excited by complex project management and want to help shape the future of integrated clean energy solutions in Australia, we’d love to hear from you.

What you need to know about the Chennai Tech Scene

To locals, it's no secret that South India is leading the charge in big data infrastructure. While the environmental impact of data centers has long been a concern, emerging hubs like Chennai are favored by companies seeking ready access to renewable energy resources, which provide more sustainable and cost-effective solutions. As a result, Chennai, along with neighboring Bengaluru and Hyderabad, is poised for significant growth, with a projected 65 percent increase in data center capacity over the next decade.
