We are looking for a powerful, high-ownership Deputy QA Manager to help lead and transform our 50-person global QA team. This is a high-level strategic role for someone with 10+ years of management experience and a strong background in software development.

In this role, you won't just manage standard testing checklists. Instead, you will build a smart, flexible quality strategy that works perfectly even when project rules are changing fast or timelines are tight. You will bridge the gap between Traditional Testing (standard code automation) and AI Era Testing (testing smart AI tools and massive data flows), while making sure our systems are fast, secure, and built to handle massive traffic.

Core Strategic Responsibilities
1. Building a Smart, Flexible Quality Strategy
  • Balancing Traditional & AI Testing: Create a clear strategy that handles standard code testing (automation, APIs) while also defining new ways to test smart AI models, data pipelines, and target databases ($Datamarts$).

  • Adapting to Tough Conditions: Design flexible quality processes that protect the product's stability even when project deadlines change quickly, requirements are unclear, or conditions are chaotic.

  • Proactive Quality Culture: Move the team from simply finding bugs at the end of a project to preventing bugs from the very start.

2. Leading Non-Functional Testing (NFT) Strategy
  • Performance & Speed: Oversee how we test our systems to handle massive user traffic and heavy data processing without slowing down or crashing.

  • Security & Vulnerabilities: Work with security teams to automate security checks early in the development lifecycle, keeping data safe from threats.

  • System Resilience: Push for testing methods that prove our systems can automatically recover if a server or network fails.

3. Leading and Scaling a 50-Person Team
  • Large Team Management: Manage, guide, and inspire a large team of 50 QA members across different sub-teams (automation, performance, security, data QA).

  • Resource Planning: Smartly assign people to projects so that we hit deadlines without burning out our engineers.

  • Ownership Mindset: Build a strong culture where everyone takes full responsibility for their work, stays proactive, and looks for ways to improve every day.

4. Team Upskilling & Future Planning
  • Training and Mentorship: Design structured training paths to help traditional QA engineers learn advanced automation, non-functional testing, and AI validation.

Requirements
  • Experience: 10+ years of proven experience in QA or software engineering management roles, with a track record of successfully running large teams (40–50+ members).

  • Technical Background: Strong foundational knowledge of software development, code architecture, and system design (e.g., a former software developer or highly technical QA leader).

  • Dual Testing Expertise: Clear strategic understanding of both standard automation (UI, API) and modern data/AI testing (data pipelines, AI model drift).

  • NFT Experience: Strong experience directing strategies for Performance, Scalability, and Security testing.

  • Mindset: An exceptional level of personal ownership and proactivity. You are someone who steps into ambiguous situations and creates a clear path forward.

  • Communication: We are seeking a dynamic leader with exceptional communication skills in english to align and inspire cross-functional, globally distributed teams.

What you need to know about the Chennai Tech Scene

To locals, it's no secret that South India is leading the charge in big data infrastructure. While the environmental impact of data centers has long been a concern, emerging hubs like Chennai are favored by companies seeking ready access to renewable energy resources, which provide more sustainable and cost-effective solutions. As a result, Chennai, along with neighboring Bengaluru and Hyderabad, is poised for significant growth, with a projected 65 percent increase in data center capacity over the next decade.
