This position is an individual contributor responsible for leading and managing Valmont’s independent Lighting and Transportation sales representatives (agents) to support the group’s business goals. Accountable for the achievement of territory revenue goals by sales representative/agent, product, and customer.  Leads the development and promotion of knowledge, acceptance, and use of company products by users and purchasers. Responsible for building and maintaining key internal and external relationships. Establishes account strategy for internal team and external sales representative organizations and keeps all levels informed on key issues and opportunities.  This role has regional responsibilities for a portion of the Eastern United States.   The primary location for this position must be in one of the following states: Kansas, Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, or the Omaha, Nebraska area.

Essential Functions: 
•  Travel up to 50% domestically and consistently meet/exceed revenue and profit goals.
•  Build and manage a contracted sales rep network to market products and drive customer satisfaction.
•  Develop and maintain strong customer relationships while serving as the main point of contact for key accounts.
•  Manage customer communications, retention, and new business development across assigned region.
•  Deliver accurate market intelligence, forecasts, and activity reports.
•  Provide Voice of the Customer feedback to support continuous improvement and new product/service launches.
•  Lead account strategy, proposal development, contract negotiations, and conflict resolution.
•  Oversee sales rep performance, training needs, and commission structure; make changes when necessary.
•  Drive engagement across all product lines and coordinate closely with internal teams and product managers.
•  Attend industry events, complete pre/post-bid follow-ups, and maintain quarterly territory and account plans.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate:
•    Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years in sales management (or equivalent experience: Associate's + 8 years, or 10+ years relevant experience).
•    Proven experience managing independent reps, developing account strategies, and value-added selling.
•    Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
•    Skilled in customer negotiations, sound judgment, and managing competing priorities.
•    Able to travel up to 50% domestically; valid U.S. driver’s license.
•    Passionate, results-driven, and operates with integrity.

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

•    10+ years in sales management with deep knowledge of distribution channels.
•    Existing relationships in Transportation, Utility, Municipal, and Commercial/Industrial segments.
•    Familiarity with key influencers (engineers, architects, specifiers) and overlap in telecom, lighting, and traffic industries.
