As the Relationship Manager, Financial Institutions, you will lead a portfolio of key financial institution partners—guiding them, advising them, and working side-by-side to scale innovative financing solutions for water and sanitation. You will serve as a consultant, business advisor, problem-solver, and relationship owner for these partners. This role is ideal for a strategic, analytical, and partnership-oriented professional with deep experience in Africa’s financial services ecosystem.
What You’ll do
Account Management
- You will drive impact by leading relationships with banks, MFIs, SACCOs, and other financial partners—fueling strong collaboration and shared success. Through regular touchpoints, joint planning, and proactive performance monitoring, you’ll deepen engagement, ensure exceptional service, and cultivate long-term partnerships that accelerate access to safe water and sanitation.
Business Development
- You will grow partnerships by identifying new opportunities to expand Water.org’s presence across both existing and emerging financial institutions. By engaging key decisionmakers, you’ll help spark product innovation, strengthen financing solutions, and drive portfolio growth. With a strategic and proactive approach, you will build a strong pipeline of mission aligned partners committed to scaling access to safe water and sanitation.
Business Metrics + Reporting
- You will measure success by tracking partner performance, portfolio growth, fund utilization, and progress toward impact goals. Through timely reporting and clear, data driven insights, you will equip both internal teams and external partners with the information they need to strengthen strategies, improve outcomes, and accelerate impact.
Management Responsibility
- Individual contributor with no subordinates.

Requirements
What makes you a great fit
- 5+ years’ experience in relationship management, partnership development, or account management within: Banks, MFIs, SACCOs, MSME lending and/or Water/sanitation financing
- Strong relationship-building skills with a proven history of expanding accounts or managing FI relationships.
- Passionate about making a difference and aligned with Water.org’s mission and values.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal)
Travel Requirement
- Up to 25% of domestic and international travel.
