Samba is a media intelligence company. We know what the world is watching, reading, and thinking about — in real time, at scale, across every screen. Our data exists with the consent of over a billion people, organized into the most complete picture of consumer attention ever built. The biggest brands in the world use that picture to make smarter decisions. We think it’s the most interesting data asset on the planet, because it’s the most culturally relevant.

About the role

We’re looking for an ambitious, experienced Sales Director to lead and grow Samba’s presence in India, based in Mumbai. This is a player-coach role: you’ll carry your own book of business and close strategic deals directly, while also building and managing a small team as it scales, setting the go-to-market strategy for the region from the ground up.

Reporting into regional commercial leadership, you’ll be responsible for driving revenue growth across India, targeting agency holding companies, media agencies and brand advertisers, while hiring, coaching and managing an account team as the market grows. You’ll bring both a strong personal sales track record and proven experience building or leading a team, ideally in ad tech, data, or media.

What You'll Do

  • advertisers across India, acting as Samba’s senior-most commercial presence in the market.

  • Build, coach, and manage a small but growing sales team, setting individual and team targets and supporting them through the full sales cycle.

  • Develop and execute the go-to-market strategy for India, including account planning, prospecting priorities, and regional expansion plans.

  • Act as a strategic advisor to agency and brand partners on how Samba’s data and analytics solutions can support their TV, video, and marketing strategies.

  • Represent Samba at industry events and with senior stakeholders, building Samba’s brand and credibility in the Indian market.

  • Partner cross-functionally with product, marketing, and global commercial leadership to feed India market needs into broader company strategy.

  • Meet or exceed team and individual quarterly and annual revenue targets.

  • Report regularly on pipeline, forecasting, and team performance to regional and global leadership.

Who You Are

  • 8-10 years of sales experience in advertising, digital media, data-as-a-service, or ad tech, with a strong track record of quota attainment.

  • Prior experience as a player-coach, or in a hybrid IC/people-management sales role — comfortable both closing deals personally and developing a team.

  • Established senior-level relationships with agency holding companies, media agencies, and/or brand advertisers in India.

  • Demonstrated ability to build a market or territory from the ground up, ideally in a new or emerging region for an organization.

  • Strategic, consultative sales approach with strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy.

  • Willingness to travel within India (and occasionally internationally) as needed.

  • Knowledge of the TV/online/mobile advertising industry and data-driven marketing a strong plus#LI-AK1

As a result, Chennai, along with neighboring Bengaluru and Hyderabad, is poised for significant growth, with a projected 65 percent increase in data center capacity over the next decade.
