The SDET, or Software Development Engineer in Test, is responsible for designing, developing, and executing HMA's automated test scripts to ensure software quality. The SDET collaborates closely with HMA's developers and project teams to identify bugs and improve functionality throughout the development lifecycle.
What YOU will do:
- Test Design and Execution: Understand and execute manual and automated test cases based on requirements and user stories. Work under supervision to ensure software meets quality standards.
- Test Automation Fundamentals: Write, maintain, and execute basic automated test scripts under guidance, using established frameworks and tools (e.g., Playwright, Selenium).
- Bug Reporting and Verification: Accurately log defects found during testing and assist with their triage and verification once addressed by developers.
- Learning and Documentation: Actively participate in training sessions, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing activities. Maintain clear documentation for test cases, scripts, and procedures.
- Collaboration: Communicate progress, issues, and risks to senior SDETs, developers, and QA leads. Participate in daily stand-ups and sprint planning as a team member.
- Advanced Test Automation: Design, implement, and optimize automated test suites for functional and non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, security, etc.).
- Framework and Toolchain Enhancement: Contribute to the development and maintenance of test automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code for testing environments.
- Test Strategy and Risk Analysis: Participate in test planning and risk analysis. Identify gaps in test coverage and collaborate with developers on testability and quality improvements.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Engage with product managers, UX/UI designers, and DevOps to refine requirements and ensure test scenarios reflect real-world user flows and system integrations.
Knowledge, Experience, and Key Attributes needed for Success:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- At least 3-5+ years in Quality Assurance and software testing.
- At least 1 year of prior experience in healthcare or insurance industries preferred
- Proficiency in designing and implementing robust test automation solutions.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Bamboo, GitHub Actions).
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex software and infrastructure issues.
- Solid understanding of databases, API testing (e.g., REST, SOAP), and web/mobile testing tools.
- Experience with test automations such as Jenkins and Perl
- Keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence
- Experience creating test plans in Azure DevOps
- Be willing to help your teammates, share your knowledge with them, and learn from them
- Be open to receiving constructive feedback and turning it into process improvements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
