Data Engineer, Platform
Role Summary
Build and maintain the foundational data infrastructure on Databricks that powers all client use cases and serves as the base layer for Synapse. You will design, build, and optimize data pipelines that scale across multiple clients and agencies, working within an architecture-first team that values clean abstractions and reusable patterns.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines on Databricks/Spark for client data ingestion, transformation, and delivery
- Implement and maintain dbt models for data transformation, testing, and documentation across client environments
- Build the foundational data layer that our agentic data system sits on top of, ensuring consistency and scalability for programmatic, search, and social data
- Support data infrastructure for multi-client use cases, working with the onshore team to translate requirements into robust pipeline designs
- Automate data quality checks, monitoring, and alerting to ensure pipeline reliability
- Collaborate with Data Scientists and AI Engineers to ensure data is structured and accessible for downstream analytics and agentic workflows
- Maintain documentation for data models, pipeline architecture, and operational runbooks
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices across the team
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering with production pipeline experience
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
- Hands-on experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, or similar distributed data processing frameworks
- Experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Azure preferred, AWS/GCP acceptable)
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and ETL/ELT patterns
- Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong communication skills and comfort working with distributed, cross-timezone teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) and Azure ecosystem
- Exposure to media/advertising data (impressions, clicks, conversions, campaign taxonomies)
- Experience with Adverity or similar data integration platforms
- Familiarity with Power BI or other BI tools for data validation
- Experience building data products that serve multiple downstream consumers
