The Finance Team includes Accounting, Finance Business Partnership, Finance Operations, Financial Systems, Internal Audit, Investor Relations, Tax, and Treasury teams. Together, the team partners with leadership to provide insights, information, and guidance to make strategic and operational decisions, inform investors about our business model and progress, and ensure the company is financially healthy and consistently meeting our reporting obligations.

We’re looking for a Senior Accountant to join the Snap Inc Accounting team! As a member of the Accounting team, you will analyze accounting treatment for certain transactions, record and report accounting transactions, and optimize processes for efficient and accurate data flow. You will collaborate cross functionally with other business partners daily to ensure accurate and timely accounting for US GAAP reporting and local statutory reporting.

What you’ll do:

  • As one of the first hires for the accounting team in India, work with the global team to build out business processes, as well as specific accounting responsibilities in the region.

  • Work on a wide array of accounting areas such as Leases, Fixed Assets, and Expense Accruals, amongst others.

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries and account reconciliations for areas as assigned, ensuring high quality work product and level of detail. 

  • Prepare materials for internal and external reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis.

  • Identify risks and drive process enhancements, implement controls, and maintain proper process documentation and evidence in accordance with SOX. 

  • Develop relationships and work closely with business partners to provide accounting and business support, including research and recommendations on accounting issues, changes in judgements and estimates that impact financial results, as well as implementation of accounting changes.

  • Preparation of external financial statements in accordance with local regulatory requirements.

  • Work with external auditors and the audit process in the local jurisdiction.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to prepare compliance filings to meet local reporting requirements (i.e. TDS, DPT-3, FLA, etc) and ensure the appropriate accounting treatment.

  • Work with P2P, O2C, payroll and treasury teams to ensure compliance with local regulations and the appropriate accounting treatment.

  • Ensure compliance to accounting policies, as well as enhance as required.

  • Analyze, organize and deliver information that move teams to decisions and action.

  • Work at the lowest level of detail to understand Company operations and identify accounting issues.

  • Design and implement new processes and controls as needed.

  • Provide support for other ad hoc analyses and projects as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Technical accounting knowledge with an understanding of US GAAP and local GAAP, as well as the ability to document accounting conclusions.

  • Understanding of local regulations and compliance requirements. Experience in delivering processes and reporting to meet such needs.

  • Ability to work under pressure and perform several tasks concurrently in a deadline driven environment.

  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills, and superior attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization.

  • Exceptional analytical skills, including Excel and VBA/Macros.

  • A proactive, self-directed approach with the ability to multi-task, think creatively, and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.

  • Detail-oriented with a high sense of urgency and exceptional organizational skills.

  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work extended hours during critical periods.

  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.

  • Someone who is flexible, eager, and willing to build from the ground up.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance or equivalent years of experience

  • 6+ years of experience as an accounting professional

  • CA/CPA License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Big 4 firm experience.

  • Fortune 500 and/or private company experience.

  • Experience working in cloud finance systems (Oracle, Concur, WorkdayL, etc.).

  • Experience in managing the delivery of local reporting requirements.
