Job Title: Analyst – Indirect Tax
Location: Pune (Hybrid – 2-3 days/week in office)
Reports to: Analyst, Tax – TransUnion, Pune Office
Shift: U.S. Shift Timings
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file GST returns including GSTR‑1, GSTR‑3B, GSTR‑2B/2A reconciliation, and other periodic returns.
- Ensure timely compliance with statutory deadlines and internal timelines.
- Monitor amendments, rectifications, and error corrections in return.
- Track filing status, challans, and cash/credit ledgers.
- Perform monthly ITC reconciliations between books, GSTR‑2B/2A, and ITC registers.
- Identify ineligible ITC, reversals, reclaims, and ensure compliance with GST rules.
- Reconcile GST liability, ITC, and tax payments with general ledger.
- Support month‑end and year‑end closing activities from an indirect tax perspective.
- Assist in GST audits, departmental queries, assessments, and notices.
- Prepare data, reconciliations, explanations, and supporting documents.
- Coordinate with consultants and legal advisors for responses.
- Assist with APAC Indirect Tax compliance, including State & Local Sales/VAT Taxes, GST, Gross Receipts Taxes, Personal Property Taxes, and other transaction-based taxes.
- Assist with preparation and posting of monthly/quarterly tax-related entries in PeopleSoft.
- Maintain reconciliation support of GL balances in Blackline tool.
- Prepare account reconciliations, various indirect tax payment processing, assist with state audit support.
- Research tax laws and provide guidance on compliance and planning.
- Monitor legislative changes and assess impact on business operations.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with tax officers, internal stakeholders, and external service providers/consultants.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of key tax processes (SOPs), including compliance systems and suggesting automation opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Chartered Accountant / MBA (Finance) / CPA/ LLB with exposure to Indirect Tax.
- 2-3 years of indirect tax compliance in a Big 4 firm or multinational corporation.
- Strong understanding of APAC Indirect tax regimes and compliance requirements for indirect taxes.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft (Oracle) is an added advantage.
- Experience with account reconciliations and journal entry preparation.
- Proficiency in Tax technology platforms and data automation tools.
- Effective prioritization skills with ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to apply innovative approaches to problem solve.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts in simple terms.
