Team Overview
The Technical Platform Manager (TPM) is responsible for driving the strategy, roadmap, adoption, governance, and delivery of enterprise platform services that enable secure, scalable, and efficient software development and infrastructure operations across the organization.This role partners with platform service owners, engineering leaders, architecture, security, compliance, cloud engineering, and application development teams to define platform capabilities, establish operational excellence standards, drive platform adoption, and deliver measurable business outcomes. The TPM serves as a strategic leader who balances platform scalability, reliability, security, developer experience, and cost optimization while ensuring enterprise platform services continue to meet evolving business and technology needs.
Platform domains may include Observability, Infrastructure Automation, PKI and Certificate Lifecycle Management, Trusted Images, Kubernetes and Container Platform Services, Developer Tooling, and Internal Developer Platforms.
This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week. Role Overview And Core Responsibilities
Define and manage the roadmap for enterprise platform services including:
Observability
PKI and Certificate Lifecycle Management
Trusted Images
Container Platform Services (Kubernetes/CMK)
Infrastructure Automation
Internal Developer Platform capabilities
Drive platform strategy, lifecycle management, adoption, and governance in partnership with platform service owners and engineering leadership.
Identify platform investment priorities aligned to organizational objectives and engineering needs.
Balance platform standardization with flexibility to support diverse engineering teams and business requirements.
Drive adoption of enterprise platform services across engineering organizations.
Establish feedback mechanisms to understand customer needs and continuously improve platform offerings.
Measure and report platform adoption, utilization, maturity, and customer satisfaction.
Champion self-service platform capabilities that improve developer productivity and experience.
- Define and maintain platform governance models, operating processes, and service lifecycle standards.
- Establish and monitor service KPIs, SLAs, SLOs, operational health metrics, reliability indicators, and adoption measures.
- Partner with engineering teams to ensure services meet enterprise standards for security, availability, scalability, and compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on operational data, service performance, and customer feedback.
Manage cross-team initiatives spanning multiple platform and engineering organizations.
Develop and maintain delivery plans, release schedules, dependencies, risks, and mitigation strategies.
Facilitate Agile planning, PI Planning, readiness activities, roadmap reviews, and executive reporting.
Ensure successful execution of platform initiatives while maintaining alignment with strategic objectives.

Build alignment among technical and business stakeholders.
Influence architecture decisions, platform standards, and engineering best practices.

Required Knowledge And Experiences
Required Knowledge & Experiences:
- 5+ years of experience as a Technical Platform Manager, Technical Product Manager, Technical Program Manager, or similar leadership role within an Agile environment.
- 3+ years of experience supporting cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, developer platforms, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering organizations.
- Experience defining and executing platform strategy, adoption, governance, service lifecycle management, and roadmap execution.
- Strong understanding of platform engineering domains including Observability, Infrastructure Automation, PKI/Certificate Services, Container Platforms, and Cloud Operations.
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture, scalability, reliability, resiliency, security, and operational excellence principles.
- Experience managing shared platform services or internal developer platforms serving multiple engineering teams.
- Experience establishing and tracking platform KPIs, SLAs, SLOs, operational health metrics, reliability indicators, and adoption measures.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional initiatives involving Architecture, Security, Compliance, Cloud Engineering, Operations, and Application Development teams.
- Proven ability to influence technical and business stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Strong ownership mindset with demonstrated success managing dependencies, risks, and commitments across multiple teams.
- Ability to identify patterns across organizations, simplify complexity, and establish consistent operating standards.
- Experience managing platform roadmaps, requirements, delivery execution, and reporting using Jira, Confluence, and related workflow tools.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams across multiple time zones.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to translate complex technical topics into actionable business outcomes.
- Experience balancing platform scalability, reliability, security, and adoption while optimizing infrastructure and operational costs.
Required Technical Skills:
- Cloud platforms: AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Observability platforms and technologies including Google Cloud Observability, OpenTelemetry, Splunk, Google Cloud Logging, Google Cloud Monitoring, OpenSearch, or similar solutions.
- Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) platforms and automation tools such as Terraform, Harness, or equivalent technologies.
- Containerization and orchestration platforms including Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native container services.
- CI/CD platforms, developer tooling ecosystems, and software delivery pipelines.
- Cloud security concepts including IAM, RBAC, encryption, secrets management, and network security.
- Familiarity with Enterprise PKI, certificate lifecycle management, HSMs, public and private certificate authorities, TLS, cryptographic controls, and secrets management.
- Experience with trusted image management, OS hardening, vulnerability remediation, software supply chain security, and container image governance.

- Experience presenting platform strategy, service health, adoption metrics, and operational performance to executive leadership.
