Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop RESTful APIs based on FHIR resources (Patient, Observation, Encounter, etc.)

• Build interoperability layers between EMRs, labs, insurers, and third-party healthcare apps

• Map legacy healthcare data formats (HL7 v2, CDA) to FHIR resources • Implement and manage FHIR servers (e.g., HAPI FHIR or Microsoft FHIR Server)

• Ensure compliance with healthcare standards and regulations (HIPAA, etc.) • Work with clinical and product teams to translate workflows into interoperable data models • Develop and maintain documentation for APIs and integration workflows Optimize performance, scalability, and security of data exchange systems Required Skills

• Strong experience in backend development (Python) • Hands-on experience with FHIR resources, profiles, and extensions • Understanding of healthcare data standards: o HL7 v2 o CDA • Experience building RESTful APIs and working with JSON/XML

• Knowledge of authentication standards (OAuth2, OpenID Connect)

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) • Database experience (SQL/NoSQL) Good to Have • Experience with SMART on FHIR apps

• Knowledge of terminology standards (SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD) • Exposure to integration engines like Mirth Connect or Apache Camel • Prior work with EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
