About the Role
Ensono is seeking a Senior Application Database Engineer to join our Product Engineering team. In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of scalable, integrated data architectures that power our client portal and internal platforms. You will be responsible for shaping the evolution of our enterprise data environment, with a focus on architecting solutions that ingest, transform, and integrate metrics from z/OS mainframe systems into actionable, business-ready data layers. This role requires close collaboration with Product Management, Engineering, and business stakeholders to ensure our data architecture aligns with organizational objectives and delivers measurable value to our clients. As a Senior Data Architect, you will set data standards, champion best practices, and guide the adoption of modern data technologies across the organization.
You will be responsible for managing and evolving our integrated database environment, with a focus on ingesting and transforming metrics from z/OS mainframe systems into actionable data layers. This role requires close collaboration with Product Management and Engineering teams to ensure data solutions align with business objectives and deliver measurable value to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and architect scalable, high-performance data models and data integration solutions across PostgreSQL, Snowflake, and other modern data platforms.
- Define and enforce data architecture standards, best practices, and governance policies to ensure data quality, consistency, and security.
- Lead the modernization and integration of mainframe-generated metrics into enterprise data ecosystems, enabling advanced analytics and business intelligence.
- Configure and maintain database environments, including installation, replication, clustering, and high availability.
- Monitor database performance and proactively address bottlenecks to ensure system reliability and responsiveness.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python for database monitoring, backups, and deployment tasks.
- Implement robust database security practices, including access control, encryption, and auditing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mainframe-generated metrics into modern data platforms.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for database architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, database administration, or related roles.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g. MS SQL Server, POstGreSQL, Snowflake, DB2 etc)
- Demonstrated expertise in managing and maintaining data structures and related elements in Mainframe Systems
- Expertise in PostgreSQL administration and performance tuning.
- Good to have hands-on experience with data integration, ETL/ELT, and data pipeline tools (e.g., SSIS, Informatica, Talend, Azure Data Factory).
- Skilled in designing efficient database schemas, queries, and indexing strategies to support application performance and business requirements.
- Proficiency in Python scripting and Linux/Unix environments, including shell scripting.
- Solid understanding of database security principles and best practices.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Jira, Git/SVN, and Jenkins.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Working knowledge of networking and security concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with z/OS mainframe systems and data ingestion pipelines.
- Industry certifications in database technologies or cloud platforms.
