Job Summary

Synechron is seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to lead and enhance our modern infrastructure automation and deployment practices. This role is critical in ensuring scalable, secure, and reliable development operations across the organization. The successful candidate will develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automate infrastructure provisioning, and oversee observability initiatives, all while mentoring junior team members and promoting best practices in DevOps.

Software Requirements

Required:

  • Git, GitOps tools (Flux, ArgoCD) – experience with version control and automated deployment workflows
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools: Terraform (version 0.12+) and Ansible (latest recommended)
  • Container orchestration and management: Kubernetes (latest stable version)
  • Scripting languages: Python, Bash, and JavaScript for automation tasks
  • Monitoring and observability tools: Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, OpenTelemetry
  • Security and compliance tools for vulnerability scanning and governance

Preferred:

  • Cloud platform management (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Helm package manager for Kubernetes
  • Other automation and configuration tools (Chef, Puppet)
Overall Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitOps practices with Flux, ArgoCD, or similar tools
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management leveraging Terraform, Ansible, and Helm
  • Optimize Kubernetes workloads for availability, performance, and scalability
  • Develop automation scripts in Python, Bash, or JavaScript to support operational workflows
  • Lead the implementation of observability strategies utilizing Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and OpenTelemetry to ensure system transparency and performance monitoring
  • Enforce security best practices within DevOps workflows, including vulnerability assessments and compliance automation
  • Mentor and guide junior DevOps engineers, contributing to team skills development and best practice documentation
  • Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to streamline deployment pipelines and infrastructure processes
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase reliability, efficiency, and security of infrastructure operations
Technical Skills (By Category)

Programming Languages (Essential):

  • Python, Bash, JavaScript (for scripting automation and integrations)

Databases/Data Management:

  • Not primary focus; familiarity with managed databases or data stores is advantageous but not mandatory

Cloud Technologies:

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, including deployment and resource management

Frameworks and Libraries:

  • Helm for managing Kubernetes packages (preferred)

Development Tools and Methodologies:

  • CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalent experience)
  • GitOps tools (Flux, ArgoCD)
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Monitoring and observability frameworks (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, OpenTelemetry)

Security Protocols (Preferred):

  • Security best practices in DevOps, vulnerability scanning, compliance automation, secret management
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or related roles
  • Proven experience leading automation and deployment strategies in a cloud-native environment
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, container management, and orchestration
  • Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitOps practices
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead junior team members
  • Knowledge of security standards and practices in cloud and container environments
Day-to-Day Activities
  • Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid, reliable software delivery
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and upgrades using IaC tools
  • Manage and optimize Kubernetes workloads for high availability and performance
  • Build, test, and deploy automation scripts using Python, Bash, or JavaScript
  • Implement, maintain, and improve observability systems and dashboards
  • Perform security audits and integrate vulnerability scanning within pipelines
  • Conduct code reviews and share best practices with team members
  • Collaborate with cross-discipline teams during project planning and deployment phases
  • Maintain documentation for infrastructure, processes, and operational procedures
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
  • Certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), HashiCorp Terraform Associate, or equivalent preferred
  • Continuous learning in DevOps, cloud platforms, and security practices
