Senior DevOps Engineer (Kubernetes, OpenShift, CI/CD, Java, ELK)
Synechron is seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to oversee and enhance our container orchestration, automation, and observability practices. In this role, you will be responsible for managing Kubernetes and OpenShift platforms, implementing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring system observability through ELK stack. Your expertise will enable efficient build and deployment processes, robust microservices architecture, and continuous improvement of our cloud-native infrastructure, supporting our organizational goals of agility, reliability, and security.
Software RequirementsRequired Skills:
- Extensive hands-on experience with Kubernetes (ECS or equivalent) environment management and orchestration
- Familiarity with OpenShift platform architecture, deployment, and management
- Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent
- Strong expertise in ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) for observability and monitoring
- Knowledge of container build tools such as Docker, Podman, or equivalents
- Understanding of microservices architecture and best practices for containerized applications
- Working knowledge of scripting languages (Shell, Groovy, Python) for automation tasks
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for container orchestration and deployment
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Ansible
- Familiarity with monitoring tools beyond ELK, e.g., Prometheus, Grafana
- Manage, configure, and optimize ECS Kubernetes and OpenShift environments for high availability and performance
- Design, develop, and maintain automated build, test, and deployment pipelines using CI/CD tools
- Implement and enhance observability solutions using ELK stack to monitor system health, logs, and performance metrics
- Collaborate with development teams to containerize applications and ensure seamless deployment workflows
- Drive automation for infrastructure provisioning and updates in line with best practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, deployment, and system issues efficiently
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement security, compliance, and operational standards
- Document configurations, processes, and best practices for knowledge sharing and audits
- Stay current with industry trends in containerization, automation, and observability to drive continuous improvement
Container Orchestration & Platforms:
- Essential: Kubernetes (ECS or equivalent), OpenShift platform management
- Preferred: Managed cloud Kubernetes services (EKS, AKS, GKE)
DevOps & CI/CD Tools:
- Essential: Jenkins, Git, Maven, CI/CD pipeline design and automation
- Preferred: GitLab CI, Bamboo, CircleCI
Monitoring & Observability:
- Essential: ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)
- Preferred: Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger
Scripting & Automation:
- Essential: Shell scripting, Groovy, Python
- Preferred: Ansible, Terraform
Cloud Technologies:
- Preferred: Experience with cloud providers for container deployment and monitoring
- Minimum of 7+ years in software development with substantial hands-on DevOps experience
- Proven expertise in managing Kubernetes and OpenShift environments at scale
- Demonstrated success implementing CI/CD pipelines, automation, and observability solutions in large environments
- Experience working with containerization, scripting, and infrastructure automation tools
- Experience supporting cloud-native applications and microservices architecture
- Prior experience in financial or regulated industries considered a plus
- Manage and optimize container orchestration environments (Kubernetes, OpenShift) for reliability and scaling
- Develop and improve automation scripts for build, deployment, and environment provisioning
- Configure and enhance ELK stack dashboards and log management strategies
- Troubleshoot deployment, performance, and security issues, ensuring rapid resolution
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to align infrastructure with application needs
- Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, and security assessments
- Document processes, configurations, and operational procedures for governance and knowledge sharing
- Review emerging tools and practices to continually enhance DevOps pipelines and observability
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant field
- Certifications in Kubernetes, OpenShift, or DevOps tools (e.g., Certified Kubernetes Administrator, Docker Certified Associate) are preferred
- Proven track record in managing enterprise container orchestration and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a solutions-oriented mindset
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities across diverse teams
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines
- Flexibility and eagerness to learn new tools and industry best practices
- Leadership skills for mentorship and guiding automation initiatives
