We are looking for an experienced Senior Edge Developer to join the Digital Team under Life Cycle Offerings. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on capability across the full industrial edge and connected systems technology stack—edge computing, industrial connectivity, cloud computing, API integrations, data processing, and multi-language software development. This role involves architecting, developing, and maintaining edge-centric connected solutions that support our digital products and lifecycle offerings.
Key ResponsibilitiesCloud-Native Architecture & Development (Primary Focus)
- Design and build scalable, cloud-native architectures for industrial IoT and connected solutions.
- Implement event-driven, microservices-based, and distributed systems.
- Develop solutions for:
- Real-time data ingestion and streaming
- Asynchronous messaging and event processing
- API-first system design
- Apply core cloud principles: scalability, resiliency, fault tolerance, and cost optimization.
- Implement these solutions on Azure using services such as:
- IoT Hub, DPS
- Event Hub / Service Bus
- Functions / App Services / Containers
- API Management
- Storage services
Connected Solution Development
- Develop and maintain end-to-end edge-to-cloud solutions, integrating edge devices, gateways, and cloud services.
- Build secure, scalable RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Enable data pipelines for streaming and batch processing.
Edge & Device Layer
- Develop edge applications with data ingestion, filtering, and protocol handling (MQTT, Modbus, OPC-UA).
- Integrate with industrial systems such as PLCs, SCADA, DCS, and CMS.
- Ensure reliable and secure communication between edge and cloud layers.
Core Software Engineering
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code in Python, C#, or Java.
- Contribute to system design and architectural decisions across distributed systems.
DevOps, Reliability & Observability
- Implement CI/CD pipelines and automate deployments.
- Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (e.g., Terraform, Bicep, ARM).
- Ensure observability through logging, monitoring, and alerting.
- Design for high availability and disaster recovery.
Security & Governance
- Apply cloud security best practices:
- Identity & access management
- Secure communication
- Secrets and key management
- Ensure compliance with industrial and enterprise cybersecurity standards.
Collaboration
- Work with product owners, architects, cloud/platform teams, and cybersecurity teams.
6–10+ years of experience in cloud engineering, distributed systems, or IoT platforms.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture principles:
- Microservices
- Event-driven systems
- API-first design
- Distributed systems
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure preferred).
- Experience with:
- Messaging systems (Kafka, Event Hub, Service Bus, etc.)
- REST API development
- Containerization (Docker)
- Strong programming skills in Python, C#, or Java.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals and cloud security concepts.
5. Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, IT, or related field. Certifications in Azure (e.g., AZ 204, AZ 220) are a plus.4. Nice-to-Have Skills
Deep hands-on experience with Azure services and architecture patterns. Experience with Kubernetes / container orchestration (AKS or equivalent). Familiarity with data engineering and streaming frameworks. Exposure to multi-cloud or cloud-agnostic architectures. Frontend exposure (Angular, React, Node.js). Knowledge of industrial systems and protocols.
