About Jira Data Management
Jira Data Management (JDM) is all about helping people stay in control while they move data into and across Jira Cloud and provide data management and compliance capabilities for cloud customers. Enterprise customers consider the capability to move and manage large amounts of data within and outside their cloud site as an important functionality for Atlassian's cloud offerings. We build and support data movement paths powering Server to Cloud , Cloud to Cloud , and External to Cloud data migrations for Jira products. Our goal is to have scalable, seamless, and super predictable data management offerings for Jira cloud customers.
Role
You will work closely with our design and product management teams, as well as our architecture teams, to influence the direction of the product and plan the steps to achieve our goals. Your main responsibility will be building effective teams and empowering them to succeed. Additionally, you will provide guidance and support for their professional development, helping them unlock their potential and challenging them to step outside their comfort zones. As an engineering leader, you will also contribute to improving our engineering and operational practices through a continuous improvement mindset.
What you'll do:
As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will bring your rich technical and leadership experience in driving a team of 2-3 scrum teams. The overall span of the team would be 12-20 and would be the front-line manager role, to start with. As a senior leader, you will work closely with multiple principal engineers, mentor and coach engineers. You will not only drive impactful business outcomes but also take part actively in driving the technical architecture. As a seasoned leader, you will bring in world-class engineering excellence and operational excellence. You'll also thrive in a challenging and growing business environment that has ambiguity, multiple global dependency footprints, and diverse stakeholders.

What you need to know about the Chennai Tech Scene
To locals, it's no secret that South India is leading the charge in big data infrastructure. While the environmental impact of data centers has long been a concern, emerging hubs like Chennai are favored by companies seeking ready access to renewable energy resources, which provide more sustainable and cost-effective solutions. As a result, Chennai, along with neighboring Bengaluru and Hyderabad, is poised for significant growth, with a projected 65 percent increase in data center capacity over the next decade.
