Hardware Engineering is a diverse, innovative, and collaborative group of electrical, mechanical, reliability, software and vehicle engineers. Our team builds the products which are the eyes and ears of Waymo's autonomous driving technology, and integrate those products into vehicle platforms.

In this hybrid role, you will report to an Engineering Manager

You will:

  • Develop and maintain HW/SW of test stations for PCBA and module level testing
  • Provide technical leadership to our manufacturing partners to bring up, troubleshoot and maintain production testers
  • Conduct PCBA and photonic module failure analysis of production fallouts
  • Develop product troubleshooting and rework procedures
  • Document tester requirements/specification and manage tester vendors to develop testers

You have:

  • BS, or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics or relevant disciplines
  • Strong experience in digital interfaces
  • Strong hands-on EE lab skills, including PCBA bringing-up, testing and troubleshooting
  • Experience in Python software development
  • Good communication skills in English

We prefer:

  • Knowledge in Linux networking and network infrastructure
  • Experience in managing contract manufacturers, particularly in Asia, and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time
  • Strong experience in Python software development
  • Experience in digital and analog circuit design/analysis

The expected base salary range for this full-time position is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.  Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
