COMPANY SUMMARY
Irth Solutions is a PE-backed global SaaS company and the leading platform for damage prevention and asset protection in the energy, utility, telecom, and media industries. With ~350 employees across the US, Canada, and India, we help clients protect critical infrastructure through intelligent software that powers the entire damage prevention lifecycle. We're a scaling company with a builder's mindset — and we're looking for people who thrive in that environment
JOB SUMMARY
We're hiring Senior Manager- People Operations to own the operational backbone of our People & Culture function. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has built and run people operations in complex, multi-jurisdictional environments and knows what "good" looks like in payroll, benefits, and HRIS without needing it to be handed to them. This role is based in our Pune, India office and operates on US business hours to support our North American employee population. You'll lead a team of two direct reports and report directly to the Chief People & Culture Officer. If you're looking for a role where you can build infrastructure that actually matters and see your impact in real time, this is it.
Requirements
What You'll Own
What You’ll Own
Payroll
Our North American workforce is ~90% salaried exempt, with non-accrued PTO. The complexity of payroll here comes from benefits deductions and multi-jurisdiction tax compliance, not from overtime calculations, PTO accruals, or retroactive changes.
- Own end-to-end US payroll processing (semi-monthly) for ~300+ employees across multiple states, with hands-on accountability for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
- Own end-to-end Canadian payroll operations across multiple provinces, including Quebec, navigating jurisdiction-specific deductions, tax filing, and regulatory requirements
- Independently manage and maintain state and local payroll taxes and filings to keep Irth in compliance, including creating accounts in new states, filing reports, making payments, and setting up TPAs where applicable
- Lead remediation and ongoing maintenance of multi-state payroll tax registrations, including proactive identification and resolution of tax ID gaps in Rippling
- Process annual filings at the US and Canadian federal level (W-2, 1099, and T4)
- Partner with Finance on payroll accounting, GL reconciliation, and audit readiness
- Stay current on federal, state/provincial, and local payroll compliance changes across all operating jurisdictions
Benefits Administration
This is true benefits ownership: you understand how US health plans work (plan design, carrier and TPA mechanics, eligibility, compliance) and can manage the program independently.
- Own US benefits administration, including medical, dental, vision, FSA/HSA, 401(k), life, and ancillary lines
- • Manage open enrollment end to end: carrier coordination, employee communications, and system configuration in Rippling
- Ensure payroll deductions match carrier invoicing and effective dates for onboarding, offboarding, and LOA-impacted employees in the US and Canada
- Review and coordinate leaves of absence with carriers and maintain accurate records in Rippling
- Lead the broker relationship and serve as primary point of contact for carriers and TPAs
- Ensure ACA compliance, reporting, and filing (1094-C/1095-C)
- Support Canada benefits strategy in partnership with local HR resources, and coordinate India ancillary benefits with the Pune HR team as applicable
People Operations & Compliance
- Directly manage and develop two People Operations team members: set priorities, build capability, and create a high-performing team culture
- Develop and maintain HR policies across US and Canada jurisdictions, ensuring alignment with applicable employment law
- Support the BYOD compliance framework, records retention, and HR audit readiness across the US, Canada, and India
- Manage unemployment claims, leave administration (FMLA, state leaves, parental), and workers’ compensation programs
- Work US business hours from Pune. This is a firm requirement given the payroll and benefits support model for our North American workforce
HRIS: Rippling
Rippling experience is preferred but not required if you have built, configured, and maintained a comparable HRIS. Experience with a PEO or EOR, or coordinating between separate payroll, tax, and benefits teams, is not a substitute.
- Serve as system owner and subject matter expert for Rippling across all modules: payroll, benefits, PTO, headcount, and integrations
- Own data integrity, configuration, workflows, and role-based access
- Lead HRIS optimization initiatives: build automation, improve self-service, and reduce manual effort across the People team
- Manage the Rippling-to-Intacct integration, including issue escalation and resolution with vendor support
- Partner with Finance and IT on system governance, data validation, and new module rollouts
What You Bring
- 7+ years in People Operations, HR Operations, or a directly equivalent function, with demonstrated ownership of payroll and benefits, not just advisory support
- Hands-on payroll processing experience in both the US (multi-state) and Canada (multi-province). This is a hard requirement
- Working knowledge of how US health plans operate, with hands-on benefits administration experience rather than coordination or data entry
- Strong knowledge of US payroll tax compliance, benefits regulations (ACA, ERISA, COBRA), and Canadian payroll and employment standards
- Deep Rippling expertise (or equivalent HRIS experience, as noted above): you can configure it, troubleshoot it, and train others on it
- Prior experience managing direct reports, with a track record of developing team members and driving accountability
- Experience operating in a PE-backed, high-growth, or scaling SaaS environment; you know how to move fast within evolving structure
- Exceptional attention to detail combined with the ability to zoom out and see the system-level picture
- Strong cross-functional communication skills; you can translate payroll and compliance complexity for Finance, Legal, and executive stakeholders
- A builder’s mentality: you identify gaps, propose solutions, and execute without waiting for a playbook
- Meaningful plus: familiarity with Quebec-specific requirements (Law 25, CNESST, provincial payroll nuances)
Nice to Have
• Experience with India-based payroll or HR coordination (particularly in Pune/Maharashtra)
• Familiarity with SR&ED tax credits or other Canadian R&D incentive programs
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent certification
• Experience with equity/stock plan administration or MIP/bonus program operationalization
• Experience managing an RPO or staffing partner relationship
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance/Accounting, or a related field.
BenefitsWhat We Offer
- Be part of a dynamic and growing company that is well-respected in its industry.
- Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications.
- Health Insurance coverage.
