In this role, you will work as a dedicated member of a globally distributed team, partnering closely with business partners in the U.S. to design, build, and scale solutions that directly impact our customers and operations. While your legal employer will be our EoR partner, you will be fully integrated into our Credit Acceptance team for day-to-day work and collaboration.

As a Senior Manager, Software Engineering – Data, you will lead a team of engineers responsible for designing and delivering scalable, reliable, and high-quality data platforms, pipelines, and models across batch and streaming architectures. You will balance people leadership, delivery execution, and strategic direction, ensuring alignment between business priorities and technical solutions.
You will be accountable for team performance, engineering excellence, and domain outcomes, while fostering a high-performing, collaborative, and continuously improving engineering culture. This role serves as a critical bridge between business strategy and technical execution, ensuring the organization’s data capabilities scale to meet evolving needs.

Outcomes and Activities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of data engineers, providing clear direction, feedback, and career growth opportunities
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous learning
  • Drive strong engagement through effective 1:1s, performance management, and team development planning
  • Ensure the team operates with a One Team mindset, collaborating effectively across functions

Delivery & Execution

  • Own the successful delivery of end-to-end data pipelines and platform capabilities across batch and streaming architectures
  • Ensure high standards for data quality, scalability, reliability, and observability
  • Drive execution against priorities, balancing speed, quality, and technical sustainability
  • Partner with Product, Analytics, and Business teams to ensure delivery aligns with business needs

Technical Leadership & Architecture Oversight

  • Provide architectural guidance and technical direction across the data domain
  • Ensure adherence to engineering standards, best practices, and design principles
  • Anticipate risks related to performance, scalability, and data quality and proactively mitigate them
  • Support the adoption of modern data technologies and frameworks

Strategy & Alignment

  • Translate business strategy into clear technical priorities and execution plans
  • Ensure alignment between long-term data platform strategy and near-term delivery goals
  • Lead prioritization discussions, balancing competing demands and resource constraints
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives that elevate the organization’s data capabilities

Engineering Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Champion coding standards, testing practices, and CI/CD adoption to ensure high-quality, production-grade systems
  • Promote a culture of experimentation, continuous improvement, and innovation
  • Lead efforts to improve team processes, system design, and delivery efficiency
  • Ensure strong documentation and maintainability of systems

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders within the data domain
  • Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships to enable effective collaboration

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of software engineering experience, with strong expertise in data platforms and systems
  • 6+ years of people leadership experience managing engineering teams
  • Strong background in:
    • Data Lake and Lakehouse architectures
    • Data engineering and pipeline development (batch and streaming)
    • Programming (Python, SQL, PySpark) and data modeling
    • Cloud data platforms and distributed systems
  • Experience delivering enterprise-scale data solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in Agile environments

Preferred:

  • Experience with modern data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Spark, Kafka)
  • Familiarity with AWS data services (e.g., S3, Glue, Lambda)
  • Experience with orchestration and transformation frameworks (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Dagster)
  • Strong understanding of data governance, lineage, and quality frameworks
  • Experience in financial services or FinTech

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to lead teams delivering large-scale, complex data initiatives
  • Strong business acumen and ability to connect technical decisions to business outcomes
  • Proven ability to mentor engineers and elevate team performance
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change, challenge the status quo, and deliver results

CTC Range: ₹ 71,31,986 - ₹ 1,04,60,246

Total Compensation (CTC): Final CTC will be shared during the offer stage and will include all compensation components in detail as per EoR vendor's structure. 

Final compensation within the range is influenced by many factors including role-specific skills, depth and experience level, industry background, relevant education and certifications.

This role is hired through an Employer of Record (EoR) partner in India.

  • You will be legally employed in India through our EoR partner

  • While your legal employer is the EoR partner, you will work full-time and be fully aligned to Credit Acceptance

  • Your day-to-day work, responsibilities, and performance expectations will be consistent with our global team members

  • You will receive locally compliant payroll, benefits, and statutory coverage through the EoR partner
