Summary of Responsibility
The Senior Engineering Manager leads multiple engineering teams, guiding them on technical strategies and decisions. This role requires deep technical expertise that directly shapes project architecture and influences key decisions.
The Senior Engineering Manager fosters career growth for engineers and managers while cultivating a strong team culture rooted in innovation, inclusion, and respect. They proactively identify needs and take accountable action, advocating for the right outcomes with data and diplomacy, and removing impediments in support of product and team delivery.
In addition, the Senior Engineering Manager navigates complex tech stacks to drive innovative solutions and resolve challenges with clarity, setting the standard for technical and leadership excellence. They serve as a vital voice in technical forums, shaping best practices and technology choices, and advocate for consistent adoption of best practices across the software development lifecycle to ensure quality, scalability, and delivery excellence.
Essential Functions
Partner with directors, architects, product, and security leaders to deliver on product and technical roadmaps across multiple teams.
Ensure execution excellence, holding teams accountable for delivering high-quality, secure, and scalable solutions on time.
Anticipate risks, remove impediments, and escalate challenges appropriately to senior leadership.
Mentor and guide engineering managers, team leads, and senior engineers, fostering growth, accountability, and innovation.
Elevate technical discussions across teams, setting standards for code quality, test coverage, documentation, and operational excellence.
Act as a champion for best practices, influencing adoption across multiple teams and aligning with organizational objectives.
Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, customer success, and other departments to ensure seamless delivery of initiatives.
Represent engineering in cross-departmental initiatives and external events, carrying forward the team’s vision and Finalsite’s reputation.
Shape team culture to be high-performing, inclusive, and collaborative, and handle inter-team conflict with clarity and fairness.
Drive continuous improvement in processes, tools, and methodologies that enhance efficiency, innovation, and team satisfaction.
Optimize the onboarding of new software engineers and UI developers, getting them up-to-speed with their development environment, and team tools and processes quickly and effectively.
Qualifications:
Proven ability to lead multiple engineering teams and influence technical strategy across an organization.
Strong leadership skills with experience coaching managers, team leads, and senior engineers.
5+ years experience in a management role - leading, coaching and mentoring a software engineering team
Successfully performed at the Senior Engineer level (or higher) at Finalsite or equivalent 8+ years web application development experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Computer Science, Software Engineering, etc.) or equivalent experience
Deep technical knowledge of full-stack development, including web application frameworks, cloud platforms, and relational databases.
Familiarity with modern frontend technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) and cloud-native practices.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, able to align diverse stakeholders and drive consensus.
Demonstrated ability to set priorities, align execution with business goals, and deliver complex projects reliably.
