Summary:

Kemper Auto is seeking a Sr. Decision Scientist, to work at our Kemper office in Alpharetta, GA.  As a member of the Decision Analytics team, this is an individual who gains a deep understanding of the product management and analytics, helps design and create data-centric solutions to visualize, analyze and deliver management insights required to profitably grow the personal lines auto insurance products and meet the needs of our customers. This person works closely with business leaders, analysts, application developers, data warehouse developers, and architects, data scientist to drive holistic data-centric solutions and data-centric components of broader solutions from idea to implementation.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Creates data tables for analytical purposes by exploring and extracting from multiple data sources within and outside of the company.
  • Designs and prototypes tools and dashboards visualize a variety of business data and metrics that deliver deeper analytical insights.
  • Performs statistical data analysis including conducting business performance benchmarking, hypothesis testing, pre- and post-monitoring, mix-adjustments etc. to support data-driven decision making across the company.
  • Presents analytical insights and results and provide analytical recommendations to external business partners.
  • Collaborates with other decision scientists and data engineers to research, design, build, and deploy analytical solutions including ETL pipelines, data analysis and data visualization tools
  • Serves as subject matter expert for key data elements that informs management’s decisions.
  • Assists in managing projects.
  • Engages in peer reviewing data analysis and code reviews. Provides recommendations for enhancements.
  • May coach junior team members.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of statistical and business analysis experience required.
  • Insurance experience preferred but not required.
  • Education equivalent to a college degree in mathematics, statistics, risk management, business, data analytics, actuarial studies or related fields, or the equivalent in related work experience.
  • Advanced skills and familiarity with database querying required.
  • Experience with Snowflake, SQL, and SQL Server desired.
  • Experience with PowerBI or similar dashboarding tools desired.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface at all levels of the organization.
  • Superb relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
