Who you areMetropolis is seeking an experienced Android Developer with over 5 years of professional experience in designing, developing, and deploying Android applications. The ideal candidate will be passionate about mobile technologies, have a strong understanding of modern Android frameworks, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
What you'll do- Develop and maintain mobile applications for Android and iOS platforms
- Collaborate with product, design, backend, and QA teams
- Implement clean, scalable mobile architectures (MVVM, MVI, MVC, VIPER)
- Ensure application performance, stability, and responsiveness
- Debug, optimize, and resolve memory, threading, and lifecycle issues
- Integrate mobile apps with RESTful APIs and asynchronous data flows
- Conduct code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices
- Own features end-to-end, including release and post-production support
- 5+ years of experience in mobile application development
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin/Java (Android) and Swift (iOS)
- Experience working with modern mobile frameworks and SDKs
- Strong understanding of mobile UI/UX standards and responsive design
- Knowledge of concurrency, memory management, and OOP principles
- Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with Jetpack Compose and SwiftUI
- Experience with unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Espresso, XCTest)
- Familiarity with Firebase, analytics, and performance monitoring tools
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments
- Exposure to BLE, NDK, or hardware integrations
- Languages + Frameworks: TypeScript, React, Scala (principally), Java (limited)
- Datastores: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake
- Cloud: AWS
- Version control: Git & GitHub
- AI Tooling: Copilot on GitHub
- Observability: Datadog
