About this role
- Provide technical leadership and architectural expertise across database and middleware technologies.
- Design and implement scalable, high-performance, and highly available data solutions.
- Lead initiatives in both relational and non-relational database systems, including:
- SQL: Oracle, MySQL, RDS, Cloud SQL, MariaDB
- NoSQL: MongoDB
- Middleware: ETCD, Apache Kafka, Redis, and RabbitMQ
- Optimize database performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency across cloud and on-prem environments.
- Define and promote best practices in data architecture, security, and operations.
- Collaborate with development teams to align data and messaging solutions with application needs.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in data management and middleware technologies.
- Ensure alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements for data systems.
- Architect and support messaging systems including Apache Kafka, Redis, and RabbitMQ.
What you'll do
- Design and architect database solutions using SQL and NoSQL technologies.
- Lead the implementation and optimization of Kafka, Redis, and RabbitMQ systems.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to database and middleware teams.
- Establish and enforce database and middleware best practices and standards.
- Conduct performance tuning, troubleshooting, and capacity planning.
- Collaborate with development teams to design and implement data models and messaging architectures.
- Evaluate and recommend new database and middleware technologies.
- Develop and maintain database and middleware documentation.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of database and middleware systems.
- Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and load testing to improve system efficiency.
- Develop and maintain automated installations using Terraform, Ansible, Helm.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to streamline continuous integration and delivery.
- Work across AWS, OCI, or GCP environments, ensuring cloud-native and hybrid architectures are optimized. Work closely with development, security, and operations teams to drive DBA Best practices and mentor junior engineers.
- Lead incident response, root cause analysis (RCA), and post-mortems to drive continuous improvement.
What we are looking for
- 16+ years experience with a majority of at least 6 years in DBA Architecture; experience in high availability environments
- Ensure the high availability and resilience of business-critical applications by implementing DBA best practices.
- Design and maintain comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, Dynatrace
- Expert in SQL databases, including Oracle, Aurora RDS, Cloud SQL, and MariaDB
- Expert in NoSQL databases, with hands-on experience in MongoDB
- Expert in Apache Kafka for distributed messaging and stream processing
- Expert in Redis for caching, real-time analytics, and pub/sub use cases
- Expert in RabbitMQ for robust message brokering and integration patterns
- Proficient in cloud services across major platforms (AWS, GCP, etc.)
- Expert in data modeling, supporting scalable and flexible schema design
- Expert in performance tuning for both databases and messaging systems
- Proven ability to lead architecture, implementation, and optimization of data and middleware systems
- Hands-on experience and strong understanding of the technical aspects of product development - experience with project management tools such as JIRA is essential
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
