The Role: We are looking for a technically strong Product Manager (PM) to lead our Platform Data team and drive the strategic direction for our Platform Optimisation and Platform Run teams. This role is ideal for a candidate who thrives in a data-driven, SaaS environment and has a passion for technical product management.
The role will involve managing the backlog for the Platform Data team, ensuring they support four journey teams with specialized data needs such as SQL skills, dashboards, and database optimisation and design work. Additionally, the PM will oversee initiatives to improve data quality, efficiency, and speed while managing data vendor relationships to drive cost optimization and improvements.
You will also be responsible for the strategic leadership of the Platform Optimisation team, focusing on automating trading processes and reducing dependency on third-party vendors. The role also involves oversight of the Platform Run team, responsible for L1 defect triage, overnight trading processes, and business requests.
You will build a high level of rapport and trust with business and operational leads, all members of the platform teams, sales and account management and our implementation teams around the business, to ensure the change is adopted fluidly and with minimum disruption to both internal colleagues and our external customers
With a 50/50 split between hands-on product ownership and strategic leadership, this role offers the perfect balance for a skilled product manager ready to drive both execution and long-term vision.
Responsibilities:
Platform Data Team:

  • Own the prioritization of the Platform Data team's backlog, making value-based decisions in collaboration with other product stakeholders.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to improve data quality, speed, and operational efficiency across the product.
  • Manage vendor relationships for third-party data sources, driving cost-saving initiatives and exploring opportunities to bring capabilities in-house.


Platform Optimisation:

  • Develop and execute a strategy to automate trading processes, reducing manual intervention and improving overall platform efficiency.
  • Identify and support the Product Owner with the delivery of optimization initiatives, particularly around third-party vendor usage, seeking cost reductions and service improvements.


Platform Run Team:

  • Provide strategic oversight for the Platform Run team, ensuring smooth overnight trading operations and business support for complex technical requests.
  • Work closely with the Product Owner for defect prioritization, ensuring overall platform stability and responsiveness.


Team Leadership:

  • Act as the Product Owner for the Platform Data team, ensuring clear direction, prioritization, and delivery of key objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Business Analyst to delegate tasks effectively and maintain focus on both short-term execution and long-term strategy.
  • Mentor and lead cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with broader company objectives and efficient delivery of key initiatives
  • Ability to delegate and inspire team members to execute and demonstrate clear responsibility and accountability of results.


Requirement:

  • 5-7 years' experience in a combination of Product Owner / Product Manager roles.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong experience in technical product management, particularly in data-driven environments (e.g., SQL, data pipelines, dashboard creation, database management). SaaS or financial technology experience is preferred.
  • Strong Product Owner skills, with proven ability working within an agile scrum team environment.
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional agile teams, especially in managing both product execution and strategic initiatives.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Hands-on experience working with data teams and driving key initiatives focused on data quality, efficiency, optimisation and cost savings.
  • Strategic Thinker: Ability to lead long-term automation initiatives while balancing the day-to-day backlog management of technical product teams.
  • Vendor Management: Experience managing third-party vendors and negotiating for cost-saving opportunities, especially in relation to data sourcing and delivery.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to collaborate with stakeholders across the business, translating complex technical requirements into clear, actionable roadmaps.
  • Experience in building products leveraging APIs, micro-services design and an event driven architecture
  • A background in digital transformation, ideally within investment platforms, fintech, or financial services.
