Role Overview:

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Senior Product Owner to join a product team and support the development of a next-generation Asset and Inventory Management platform. The primary focus of this role is to ensure efficient product execution by converting business objectives, product strategy, and subject matter expertise into well-defined requirements that engineering teams can implement. Working closely with a Product Manager, a Rapid Prototype Designer, and a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will be responsible for translating the product vision into actionable development tasks and ensuring consistent delivery throughout the development lifecycle. While the Product Manager is responsible for the overall product direction and long-term roadmap, you will oversee the operational aspects of product development, including backlog ownership, requirements clarification, sprint coordination, and delivery validation. Your work will help ensure that the engineering team delivers high-quality functionality that meets business expectations and supports real-world user needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Product Backlog and Requirements Management
  • Convert roadmap initiatives and business requirements into detailed user stories, clearly defined acceptance criteria, and process or workflow diagrams.
  • Work with the Product Manager and SME to clarify business needs, identify functional dependencies, and ensure requirements are sufficiently detailed before development begins.
  • Maintain, refine, and prioritize the product backlog to ensure development teams have a consistent pipeline of clearly defined and actionable tasks.
  1. Agile Delivery and Engineering Collaboration
  • Act as the main point of contact for the engineering team on day-to-day product functionality, providing timely clarifications and resolving questions that may affect development progress.
  • Support and facilitate Agile/Scrum activities, including backlog refinement sessions, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews.
  • Identify and resolve implementation-related blockers by clarifying business rules, defining validation logic, addressing edge cases, and making practical decisions on functional scope when needed.
  • Monitor sprint execution and help maintain delivery momentum by ensuring that priorities and requirements remain clear throughout each development cycle.
  1. Cross-Functional Coordination and Product Quality
  • Collaborate with the Rapid Prototype Designer to align user stories and functional requirements with UI/UX prototypes and design specifications before work enters a sprint.
  • Validate completed features against agreed acceptance criteria, design expectations, and intended business outcomes.
  • Partner with the Product Manager to provide visibility into delivery progress, discuss scope adjustments, and proactively identify potential risks or dependencies.
  • Ensure that delivered functionality is consistent with the agreed requirements and supports the intended user workflows.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Professional Experience: 3–5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Agile Business Analyst, Technical Product Manager, or in a comparable role focused on software delivery within an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Agile and Requirements Expertise: Practical experience developing clear and comprehensive user stories, defining testable acceptance criteria (including Given-When-Then/Gherkin formats), and maintaining product backlogs using tools such as Jira or Aha!.
  • Technical and Design Understanding: Ability to interpret UI/UX mockups, interactive prototypes, process flows, and data or schema diagrams, and translate them into actionable requirements for software engineers.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex business concepts into clear technical requirements and facilitate effective collaboration between domain experts and engineering teams.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to resolve functional ambiguities, assess implementation options, make pragmatic decisions on scope and priorities, and keep development teams focused on delivering outcomes.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience contributing to the launch of new SaaS products (0-to-1 development) or the modernization of existing software platforms.
  • Knowledge of inventory tracking processes involving hardware integrations, RFID technology, or barcode scanning.
  • Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO) or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification.
  • Previous experience with Asset Management, Inventory Management, Supply Chain Management, ERP systems, or enterprise logistics solutions.

Must Have:

  • Time Zone Fit: Ready to work EST time zone for maximum team overlap.
  • Communication: Excellent spoken and written English; experience working across distributed teams.
  • Initiative: Comfortable clarifying requirements and making independent decisions, escalating strategically only for more complex questions due to time zone gaps.

We offer*:

  • Flexible working format - remote, office-based or flexible
  • A competitive salary and good compensation package
  • Personalized career growth
  • Professional development tools (mentorship program, tech talks and trainings, centers of excellence, and more)
  • Active tech communities with regular knowledge sharing
  • Education reimbursement
  • Memorable anniversary presents
  • Corporate events and team buildings
  • Other location-specific benefits

What you need to know about the Chennai Tech Scene

To locals, it's no secret that South India is leading the charge in big data infrastructure. While the environmental impact of data centers has long been a concern, emerging hubs like Chennai are favored by companies seeking ready access to renewable energy resources, which provide more sustainable and cost-effective solutions. As a result, Chennai, along with neighboring Bengaluru and Hyderabad, is poised for significant growth, with a projected 65 percent increase in data center capacity over the next decade.
