Here at Optum, our Product Engineering team is looking for an exceptional Senior Software Engineer with an insatiable appetite for continuous improvement and innovation. We are looking for a DevOps-focused engineer to help take software concepts from paper to production and beyond, while driving operational excellence for an always-on suite of products supporting a global user base. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop software applications and application components in an agile development environment
  • Create high-quality software through peer design/code reviews and development of automated test cases
  • Build and implement scalable, reliable, and high-performing solutions by applying software engineering best practices
  • Collaborate with geographically distributed teams, with opportunities to mentor and learn from teammates in a fast-paced environment
  • Work closely with Product Management, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to drive solution development and product enhancements
  • Ensure solution quality by implementing unit tests, supporting integration and validation pipelines, and contributing to performance, load, and user acceptance testing
  • Utilize AWS Cloud services and Terraform to provision, manage, and automate cloud infrastructure
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to enable efficient and reliable software delivery
  • Build and deploy containerized applications using Docker
  • Use Python and Shell scripting for automation, operational tooling, and development of automated test frameworks
  • Create methods, tools, and automation frameworks to improve development efficiency and reduce manual effort
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across development, deployment, and operational processes
  • Leverage enterprise-approved AI tools to enhance productivity and innovation by streamlining workflows and automating repetitive tasks. Evaluate emerging trends to drive continuous improvement and strategic innovation.
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years of current experience with AWS Cloud services and cloud-native environments
  • 5+ years of Hands-on experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • 3+ years of experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
  • 3+ years of experience using Python and Shell scripting for automation, deployment activities, and automated test case development
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker
  • Experience implementing automated unit and integration testing
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and DevOps practices
  • Solid understanding of software engineering principles including system design, coding standards, testing, and code reviews
  • Proven solid collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across distributed teams
