Job Description
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior BI Engineer who is passionate about data visualisation and business insights. The ideal candidate will be hands-on with Tableau and strong in SQL, capable of transforming raw data into impactful dashboards and reports that drive decision-making across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports in Tableau.
- Write and optimise complex SQL queries for data extraction and transformation.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and deliver actionable insights.
- Build and maintain semantic layers or data models for BI reporting.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance across dashboards.
- Contribute to data documentation, governance, and visualisation best practices.
- Partner with data engineers to ensure data pipelines align with reporting needs.
- 5+ years of experience as a BI Engineer, Data Analyst, or Visualisation Specialist.
- Expertise in Tableau – dashboard design, calculations, parameters, and performance optimisation.
- Strong SQL proficiency for querying and transforming data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate complex data insights to non-technical audiences.
- Basic programming knowledge (Python, R, or similar) for automation or data prep.
- Experience working with data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, etc.).
- Familiarity with dbt or data modeling concepts.
- Understanding of ETL/ELT processes and collaboration with data engineering teams.
- Experience with Apache Superset or other open-source BI tools.
