The Senior Test Engineer for Ultrasound systems is responsible for end‑to‑end integration, assembly support, and comprehensive testing of fully built ultrasound units during production. The role focuses on verifying system performance, ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards, identifying deviations, performing root cause analysis, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to continuously improve product quality and testing processes.
This role involves hands‑on mechanical assembly support (SKD builds), calibration, functional verification, and documenting testing outcomes with high accuracy.
Your role:
Ultrasound Assembly & Integration
- Support mechanical assembly of Ultrasound systems (SKD), ensuring accurate integration of modules, transducers, PCBs, power units, and mechanical chassis.
- Review assembly work instructions and ensure sub‑assemblies meet build standards.
- Assist Precision Mechanics/Electronics teams in resolving mechanical fit, alignment, or cabling issues during builds.
Functional, Performance & Safety Testing
- Conduct functional, system-level, and performance tests on completed Ultrasound systems as part of production validation.
- Operate specialized Ultrasound test setups to measure:
- Image quality
- Signal integrity
- Acoustic output and transducer performance
- System response and stability
- Thermal performance
- Verify compliance with IEC 60601, UL, FDA, and Philips internal safety and quality standards.
Calibration & Troubleshooting
- Perform calibration of Ultrasound units and transducers using approved tools and fixtures.
- Investigate non‑conformances, conduct root cause analysis, and collaborate with engineering to resolve defects.
- Support quick turnaround of issues impacting production throughput.
Quality Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate digital test records and document results in manufacturing systems.
- Report test deviations promptly to the Manufacturing Group Leader as per quality protocols.
- Ensure complete traceability of test data, calibration logs, and system identifiers.
Test Equipment & Process Ownership
- Maintain and calibrate test equipment, jigs, and measurement fixtures used in Ultrasound testing.
- Continuously identify opportunities for improving test processes, cycle time, and reliability.
- Validate effectiveness of improvement actions through data and standard test measurements.
Collaboration & Safety
- Work closely with production, quality, engineering, mechanical, and electrical teams to improve build quality.
- Follow all safety, ESD, and environmental protocols—especially as relevant to Ultrasound system testing.
- Demonstrate strong teamwork, adaptability, and decision‑making with incomplete information when necessary.
You're the right fit if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical , Biomedical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field with 4+ years in medical device or electromechanical testing.
- Strong understanding of Ultrasound system principles, acoustic output behavior, image quality parameters, and diagnostic equipment operation.
- Hands‑on experience in testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of electronic/electromechanical systems.
- Familiarity with IEC 60601, regulatory standards, and medical device compliance.
- Proficiency with measurement tools for Ultrasound system testing.
- Ability to interpret design documents, test protocols, and engineering data.
- Strong root cause analysis capability.
- Skilled in navigating digital work instructions and completing accurate electronic test documentation.
- Commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and disciplined execution of test procedures.
- Experience maintaining and calibrating test fixtures/equipment.
How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.
Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities.
Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.
This is an onsite role.
