Job Location: Chennai

Work mode: In Office (4 days/week)

As a Senior UX Design Manager at Trimble, you will be instrumental in leading our UX design initiatives. This role involves strategic oversight of the design process, from research and concept development to execution and analysis. You will lead a team of talented UX designers, fostering an environment of creativity and innovation, while ensuring that our products meet high standards of usability and aesthetic appeal. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, and marketing, is a key part of this role, ensuring a unified and effective approach to design across the company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of UX designers, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous learning.

  • Strategize and oversee the implementation of a human-centered design process, ensuring alignment with business goals and user expectations.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate UX design seamlessly into product development and company strategy.

  • Drive user research and usability studies, translating insights into actionable design improvements.

  • Champion the development and refinement of our Modus Design System (modus.trimble.com), ensuring consistency and efficiency in our design approach.

  • Manage complex design projects, ensuring timely delivery with excellent quality standards.

  • Provide expert guidance on UX best practices and emerging trends, keeping the team and products ahead of the curve.

  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration within the design team and with other stakeholders.

  • Critically evaluate and iterate on design solutions, ensuring they meet high standards of usability and visual appeal.

  • Closely collaborate with fellow designers and UX-leaders in the strategic planning and execution of our UX Studio in alignment with Trimble's strategy.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Fine Arts, or a related field and commensurate experience and training.

  • At least 10+  years of experience in UX design, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.

  • A robust portfolio that demonstrates a deep understanding of UX design principles and a track record of leading successful design projects.

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to navigate ambiguity to diplomatically resolve issues. 

  • Advanced proficiency in design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, etc) and familiarity with prototyping tools.

  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to mentor and develop talent.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • A solid grasp of user-centered design, usability, and accessibility concerns.

  • Experience in conducting and applying user research and testing methodologies.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strict adherence to deadlines.

  • Design thinking skills.
