Rapyuta Robotics, an ETH Zurich startup headquartered in Tokyo, aspires to become the global leader in making robots more accessible. We currently lead the pick-assist AMR market in Japan and have secured investments from reputable backers, including Goldman Sachs, Sony, and Yaskawa.

As we establish a global hub in Chennai as an independent center to facilitate our global expansion, we're seeking a Simulation Lead. Your role will be crucial in leading and scaling simulation capabilities that support product development and business analysis. You will define strategy for where and how simulations run, develop ROS supported fleet simulation for complex multi-robot systems, and build transparent simulation experiences with strong feedback loops that enable decision-grade outputs.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Define strategy for running simulations across on-prem, cloud, or hybrid environments with attention to scale, reliability, and cost control
  • Consolidate and standardize simulation methods to reduce duplication and complexity
  • Lead development of ROS supported fleet simulation capabilities to simulate and validate complex robot fleet behavior and performance
  • Design and implement full-stack integration testing through simulation to validate end-to-end system interactions
  • Identify bottlenecks and improve performance including throughput, latency, and multi-robot coordination efficiency
  • Design and implement distributed simulation setups for higher concurrent robot counts and realistic fleet scenarios
  • Optimize simulation workflows for computational efficiency while maintaining physics accuracy and system fidelity
  • Build usability features: real-time feedback, simple configuration updates, clear logs, and a live dashboard experience
  • Provide early estimation signals and quality gates to catch issues before field deployment
  • Ensure new product functions are accurately modeled and reflected in automated simulations
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and field stakeholders to prioritize scenarios and align simulation outputs to decision needs
  • Balance scale, performance, and cost without defaulting to high-reliability tiers where not needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 7 years in simulation or closely related fields with hands-on ownership of simulation strategy and delivery
  • Strong proficiency with ROS1/ROS2 and robotics simulation stacks including experience with fleet simulation and multi-agent systems
  • Experience building distributed or parallelized simulation workflows and working with CI-triggered simulation runs
  • Solid programming skills for simulation tooling and automation (Python, C++ preferred)
  • Proven background in measuring and improving latency, throughput, and resource utilization in complex systems
  • Ability to translate product requirements into representative scenarios, oracles, and pass-fail criteria

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep experience with ROS simulation tools and frameworks for multi-robot fleet scenarios
  • Knowledge of full-stack integration testing through simulation environments
  • Experience integrating simulation with dashboards and observability for live feedback
  • Cost-aware design in cloud or hybrid environments including workload scheduling and caching
  • Understanding of robotics navigation, mapping, and coordination algorithms in simulation contexts
  • Experience with performance profiling and optimization of large-scale fleet simulations
  • Comfort collaborating across product, platform, and field teams

Benefits

Why us?

  • Exciting and challenging problems are addressed using wide-ranging technologies and tools.
  • Competitive salary
  • Great team culture, peers and workplace

What you need to know about the Chennai Tech Scene

To locals, it's no secret that South India is leading the charge in big data infrastructure. While the environmental impact of data centers has long been a concern, emerging hubs like Chennai are favored by companies seeking ready access to renewable energy resources, which provide more sustainable and cost-effective solutions. As a result, Chennai, along with neighboring Bengaluru and Hyderabad, is poised for significant growth, with a projected 65 percent increase in data center capacity over the next decade.
