Site Reliability Engineer - Observability
The Team:
Observability team plays a critical role in modern software development and engineering area. It is an integral part of the software development life cycle.
We are seeking, Site Reliability Engineer to join the growing Morningstar Observability team. In this role, you will work with a global team responsible to manage this observability platform.
This position is based in our India Mumbai office.
Responsibilities:
- Onboard users and applications to our observability platforms.
- Ensure that teams follow observability best practices.
- Collaborate with global teams & users, understand their requirement and educate them about observability platform features.
- Assist teams to leverage observability features and utilize them to analyze their applications and alert them about any anomalies.
- Revise the tool/platforms architecture on frequent basis and look for improvements.
- Automate tasks to save time and efforts.
- Maintain observability & tools operations documentation for product teams to follow.
- Own the platform and tools for day-to-day activities required to keep it stable and up to date.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering or related fields is required.
- Working knowledge of Linux and Windows operations systems.
- 3+ years of observability engineering experience.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools like New Relic, Splunk, Datadog, Dynatrace, etc.
- Experience creating Dashboards and alerting policies on above tools.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible).
- Advanced Shell scripting and IaC automation skills with Terraform or Ansible.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Good to have knowledge of any of the Cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with ITIL, DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
