About the role
As a Software Architect at cove's product and engineering team you have outsized influence over how our software is built and the tools we use. As a member of our platform team you design, build and operate our software platform and deliver a great experience to our users.
Our current architecture patterns have enabled us to iterate fast and grow our customer base quickly. To keep up with the growth of our platform and team, we are looking for an experienced software architect who can lay the foundation for our next chapter.
Your day-to-day will consist of a mix of:
- hands-on first implementation of patterns for feature teams to follow.
- collaboration with feature teams on specific architecture problems.
- articulate a long-term architecture vision in alignment with our business needs, and
- plan and execute a roadmap towards that vision.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, architect, develop, and operate our SaaS platform.
- Evolve and scale our platform to accommodate customer- and team growth.
- Drive technical projects and initiatives and coordinate with developers and product manager on other teams.
- Create a welcoming environment where developers are empowered to make their own decisions and are not afraid to make mistakes.
- On-call rotation for the platform team (we're very sensible, we don't like to get woken up either).
Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in software development.
- Excellent knowledge and experience SaaS software architecture design patterns.
- Excellent communication of architecture ideas and designs to the team.
- Excellent experience with designing and scaling Event Driven Systems (e.g. SQS, Kafka, Rabbit MQ, etc.).
- Excellent understanding of the different architectural and compliance demands of an enterprise SaaS application.
- Experience with evolving architecture stacks over several years.
- Experience with developing, testing, and monitoring server-less architecture and or micro-services.
- Experience with IaC (Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, etc).
- Experience with load and latency testing of APIs.
- Experience scaling backend infrastructure - server management, hosting and deployment, implementation and CI/CD.
- Experience working in a remote team. Comfortable reviewing and testing your team's work and providing thoughtful feedback.
