About the Team
Workday Extend empowers our customers to expand the business capabilities of Workday by building on our existing technologies. The mission of our team is to establish the foundation for Workday Extend providing outstanding services such as Identity Management, Customer Onboarding and Provisioning services. This team builds critical backend services for Workday Extend including security components, inter-service control and communication components using open source and latest technologies.We are proud of our forward-thinking, startup-like culture. About the Role
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary Agile Scrum team to deliver core and business-critical features for Workday Extend.
- Design and develop scalable back-end software using Scala, with an emphasis on reliability and performance.
- Leverage cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, GCP) to build, deploy, and manage services in a modern cloud-native environment.
- Independently implement new features and prototypes, including authoring detailed technical designs and documentation.
- Build comprehensive unit, functional, integration, and performance tests to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Ensure robust and maintainable software through continuous integration, automated testing, and thorough code reviews.
- Contribute to a culture of innovation by driving and supporting new ideas and solutions.
- Champion industry best practices in software development, DevOps, and cloud architecture to ensure sustainable and scalable systems.
About You
Basic Qualification
- 5+ years experience in software development engineering including designing, developing, and deploying software solutions.
- Sound understanding of building, testing and deploying web applications using FE technologies including React, Javascript.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Other Qualification
- Solid ability in Algorithmic Thinking, including dynamic programming, and hash-based data structures, to design and implement efficient solutions for scalability, optimization, and real-time data processing problems.
- Working knowledge of API Development, including RESTful principles and OpenAPI/Swagger specifications and experience in designing, implementing, documenting, and testing scalable APIs for microservices.
- Good understanding of Code Testing methodologies, such as unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing, and experience with JUnit, and Selenium.
- Good understanding of Object-Oriented Design (OOD) principles like encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, and abstraction and their application in software design.
- Solid understanding of Software Development principles and proficiency in Scala or Java and Agile and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
- Working experience with Source Control Management (SCM) tools such as Git and GitHub and branching strategies.
- Proven ability in Team Collaboration within a software development team, including code reviews, and agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives).
- Good skills in creating Technical Writing Documentation for API specifications, system architecture diagrams, and user manuals.
