About the role
The Software Engineer (Backend) is part of the Engineering team and reports to the BE Lead.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable backend services and robust APIs.
Define and implement robust API contracts to ensure seamless data integration with consuming services (e.g., frontend applications).
Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize performance of backend systems, data pipelines, and database queries.
Architect, provision, and manage cloud infrastructure using AWS services, focusing on scalability and reliability.
Document system and service configurations and procedures.
Review code rigorously, providing constructive feedback and ensuring code quality and maintainability.
Requirements
Experienced professional: At least 3 years of experience developing scalable backend systems using object-oriented languages such as Python, Java, or Go.
Deep experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including schema design, query optimization, and management (e.g., PostgreSQL, DynamoDB).
Solid understanding of system architecture, distributed systems, and designing for performance, security, and high availability.
Proven experience designing, building, and documenting RESTful and/or gRPC APIs.
Strong experience with Django and Django REST Framework for developing scalable backend applications and RESTful APIs.
Strong experience with AWS cloud for infrastructure management and service deployment.
Experience implementing robust monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions for production environments.
Microservices: Skills in design, develop, and deploy containerized microservices on AWS platforms like ECS or Fargate, ensuring independent scalability and agility.
Automation champion: Belief in "code over manual", and implementation of automation tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to streamline provisioning, deployment, and management of infrastructure and microservices.
Nice to haves
Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools.
Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker.
Experience with message queuing or streaming systems (e.g., Kafka, SQS).
Passion for staying up-to-date with the latest backend technologies and trends.
