At Yugabyte, we are on a mission to become the default transactional database for enterprises building cloud-native applications. YugabyteDB is our PostgreSQL-compatible distributed database for cloud-native apps. Resilient, scalable, and flexible, it runs on any cloud and enables developers to become instantly productive using well-known APIs.We are looking for talented and driven people to join us on our ambitious mission and help us build a lasting and impactful company. The transactional database market is estimated to grow to $64B by 2025. YugabyteDB is cloud-native by design, has on-demand horizontal scalability, and supports geographical distribution of data using built-in replication. This means that we are well-positioned to meet market demand for geo-distributed, high-scale, high-performance workloads.
Join the Database Revolution at Yugabyte.
Modern applications need a cloud-native database that eliminates tradeoffs and silos. YugabyteDB retains the power and familiarity of PostgreSQL by pairing its trusted API with a precision-engineered, distributed, cloud-native architecture. Even better, it’s 100% open source. Many of the world's leading enterprises are migrating from legacy RDBMSs (like Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2) to YugabyteDB, to meet their mission-critical app demands.

The Performance Engineering team at YugabyteDB is responsible for ensuring that every YugabyteDB release meets high performance standards, scales predictably, and behaves reliably across real-world workloads and cloud environments.
As part of this effort, the team owns Perf Service — a core internal platform used for performance regression detection, benchmarking, and analysis. Perf Service orchestrates large-scale performance tests across AWS, GCP, and Azure, provisions infrastructure using Terraform, deploys YugabyteDB clusters, collects results, and applies AI-based analysis to detect regressions and performance anomalies.
In this role, you will work across both backend and frontend, owning end-to-end development of Perf Service — from APIs and cloud orchestration to user-facing dashboards that make performance data actionable for engineers and release teams.Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain Perf Service as a full-stack platform: backend REST services for test orchestration and analysis frontend dashboards and workflows for consuming performance insights
• Build and evolve APIs for: managing performance test runs tracking results across releases, commits, and configurations identifying regressions and anomalies
• Design and implement frontend experiences to:
visualize performance trends and regressions
compare results across releases and commits
improve usability for performance and release engineers
• Integrate AI/ML-based analysis to automatically detect performance regressions, trends, and outliers.
• Orchestrate large-scale test infrastructure across AWS, GCP, and Azure using Terraform and Ansible.
• Automate lifecycle management of:
cloud instances
YugabyteDB clusters
benchmark workloads
• Ensure the system is scalable, reliable, observable, and cost-efficient.
• Collaborate closely with performance engineers, CI/CD, and release teams to align Perf Service with product and customer priorities.
• Own end-to-end quality: correctness, performance, UX, documentation, and maintainability.Skills & Qualifications
Required
Strong software engineering skills with experience in backend and/or full-stack development.
Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Python, Go, Java or C++.
Experience building and operating RESTful services.
Solid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
- Familiarity with Linux / Unix environments and production debugging.
- Strong engineering fundamentals: API design, testing, performance, and reliability.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with performance engineers and translate requirements into usable systems.
Strong experience with frontend development, especially React (major plus).
Experience designing data-heavy dashboards or internal engineering tools.
Familiarity with performance benchmarking or test orchestration systems.
- Exposure to AI/ML-based analytics (anomaly detection, trend analysis).
- Experience with containerization and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of observability tooling (metrics, logs, tracing).
- Experience working with distributed databases or storage systems.
Ability to own a complex internal platform end-to-end (frontend, backend, infra).
- Experience turning large volumes of performance data into clear, intuitive visual insights.
- Comfort working across backend systems, cloud infrastructure, and UI.
- Proactive mindset to identify workflow gaps and propose architectural or UX improvements.
