Our Workday Platform Security team is at the forefront of revolutionizing how we manage and secure data for both Workday services and our global customer base. About the Role

We are looking for an experienced software developer engineer with an interest in security to join us in building the most secure services on premises and in Hybrid Cloud environments. 

You should have experience designing scalable, customer-centric systems and a passion for delivering secure software solutions. Along with senior leaders, principal engineers, and security specialists you will solve challenges of growing and operating globally distributed security services. This role’s charter is to develop, build, deploy, and support platform security specific solutions and infrastructure to help protect Workday customers data. 

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to work in a production focused organisation. You will be working in a rapidly moving environment where resilience and scalability are key non-functional requirements. This will require you to work effectively within your own team but also to coordinate with others in teams both locally and in other timezones. 

You will be:

  • Designing, implementing, testing and deploying services with robust unit tests and metrics

  • Driving continuous improvement within the team to ensure a high quality service

  • Delivering quality features on-time and on-budget and implementing towards project plans and delivery commitments

  • Evolving you current technical knowledge by adaptation of new technologies

About You

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 2+ years Software Development experience, taking ownership of the design, development, and delivery of software components.

  • Strong proficiency in Java or Scala, Design Patterns, Distributed Systems design, and effective communication of design ideas.

  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL/TLS.

  • Full lifecycle Software Engineering experience: coding standards, testing, code reviews, SCM (e.g., Git), operations.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proven ability to tackle production incidents effectively during on-call responsibilities.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for global team interaction.

Other Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with cryptographic/encryption technologies & procedures (AES, RSA, Hash, FIPS, etc) and systems like Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), Certificate Authority (CA), Key Management Systems (KMS) or Hardware Security Modules (HSM).

  • Experience with AWS and GCP
