About this role:

The Sr Database Administrator (Senior DevOps Engineer) will be a key member of the Database team within GDM, responsible for providing database administration support for databases used by GDM applications. The GDM database infrastructure includes AWS RDS Aurora (PostgreSQL/MySQL) databases residing in AWS public cloud, supporting both production and non-production environments. The Database team is responsible for maintaining a production SLA of 99.99%. This role will support monitoring and timely response to any alerts relating to databases in the production environment to achieve this SLA goal.
 

What you’ll do:

-Lead the design, deployment, and management of scalable cloud infrastructure primarily on AWS and other public cloud platforms.

-Plan and implement AWS RDS Aurora PostgreSQL/MySQL installations, upgrades, and migrations 

- Perform core database administration activities such as database creation, performance tuning, monitoring, backups/restore/recovery, and database cloning 

- Troubleshoot and assist in AWS RDS Aurora related issues, including creating SRs and working with AWS support 

- Perform system administration tasks as required to assist the team 

- Provide rotational on-call support during weekends/holidays 

- Collaborate with Cloud teams to implement productivity-improving solutions 

- Evaluate new technologies and coordinate implementation to improve team output 

- Maintain documentation on the wiki.

What you’ll need:

  -Minimum of 4–6 years of experience in database administration, with proven expertise in AWS RDS Aurora (PostgreSQL/MySQL)  

- Proficiency with RedHat-like Linux operating systems  

- Strong skills in SQL and shell scripting  

- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities  

- Working knowledge of SDLC and Agile methodologies  

- Willingness and ability to learn new technologies in database and DevOps areas  

- Experience in core database activities such as installation, creation, performance tuning, backup/restore/recovery  

- Working knowledge of scripting languages such as UNIX shell scripts, Terraform and Python  

- Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB, Document DB) is a plus  

- Experience with AWS cloud technology (EC2, S3, EBS volumes) is a plus
