As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Asset and Wealth Management, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job responsibilities
- Distributed Application Design: Design distributed applications that meet business needs and technical requirements.
- Creative Software Solutions: Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting, thinking beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
- Architecture and Design Artifacts: Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications, ensuring design constraints are met by software code development.
- Data Analysis and Visualization: Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets to continuously improve software applications and systems.
- Operational Stability: Proactively identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve the overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
- Vendor and Team Evaluation: Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems.
- Technology Advocacy: Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and adoption of new and leading-edge technologies.
- Data Pipeline and Platform Development: Architect, develop, and productionized efficient data pipelines, data services, and data platforms that contribute to business objectives. Design and implement highly scalable, efficient, and reliable data processing pipelines to perform analysis and generate insights that drive and optimize business results.
- Code Development and Review: Develop secure, high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others to ensure adherence to best practices and standards.
- Proof of Concepts (POCs): Conduct hands-on POCs to validate concepts and products, ensuring they meet business and technical requirements.
- Cloud and Micro services Migration: Lead migration efforts to internal and external clouds, and transition to micro services architectures and patterns to enhance system flexibility and scalability.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Experience working on large scale software projects with dozens of teams to build internet scale systems from scratch.
- Solid programming skills with Java, Python or other equivalent languages.
- Working knowledge of AWS.
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Proficiency in Java/J2EE and REST APIs, Web Services and experience in building event-driven Micro Services and Kafka streaming
- Experience in Spring Framework and AWSServices in public cloud infrastructure.
- Experience in RDBMS and NOSQL databases.
- Working proficiency in developmental toolsets like GIT/Bit Bucket, JIRA, Maven
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Python, Snowflake, MongoDB, Postgres, Terraform .
- Experience in cloud engineering including Pivotal Cloud Foundry, AWS.
- Experience in PERF testing and turning as well as shift left practices.
- Experience in big data technologies: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Kafka.
