As an employee, you'll be part of a continually growing organization, working alongside exceptional colleagues and strategic partners worldwide, contributing to global health initiatives. Moderna's commitment to advancing the technological frontier of mRNA medicines ensures a challenging and rewarding career experience, with the potential to make a significant impact on patients' lives worldwide.

Moderna is solidifying its presence within our international business services hub in Warsaw, Poland, a city renowned for its rich scientific and technological heritage. This hub provides critical functions, meeting the growing demand of Moderna’s global business operations. We're inviting professionals from around the world to join our mission and contribute to the future of mRNA medicines.

This is a critical role within Moderna's high-growth and innovation-driven environment. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of global enterprise network solutions. You’ll drive the operational excellence of a secure and scalable infrastructure that underpins Moderna’s commercial, research, and manufacturing operations. This position is ideal for a technically exceptional engineer with domain expertise in enterprise networking, strong vendor and cross-functional collaboration skills, and a passion for infrastructure automation. Your contributions will directly support Moderna's mission to deliver life-changing mRNA medicines, while providing the opportunity to work at the intersection of biotechnology and cutting-edge digital innovation.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

  • Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Designing and operating enterprise-wide networking infrastructure across routing, switching, wireless, VPN, firewall, and access technologies.

  • Leading network lifecycle planning including upgrades, hardware refreshes, and retiring legacy infrastructure.

  • Monitoring network performance globally to identify and mitigate performance and security risks.

  • Ensuring high availability of critical systems across manufacturing, cloud, and corporate environments.

  • Leading incident response and root cause analysis activities across regional and global sites.

  • Supporting new and existing site lifecycle projects (buildouts, relocations, decommissions).

  • Partnering with vendors and service providers to optimize infrastructure and resolve complex technical challenges.

  • Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Enforcing network security policies, firewall rulesets, and secure remote access protocols in collaboration with cybersecurity teams.

  • Defining network change controls and maintaining compliance with security best practices and regulated environments (e.g. GxP).

  • Developing and maintaining detailed documentation including architecture diagrams and operational runbooks.

  • Driving automation using tools such as Python, Ansible, and Terraform to enforce Infrastructure-as-Code principles.

  • Participating in a global Tier 3 on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 infrastructure coverage.

  • Evaluating and recommending new technologies including Cisco Catalyst/Nexus/SD-WAN/Meraki/WLC, Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco ISE, Juniper SRX, and Infoblox DDI platforms.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to align network strategies with business objectives.

The key Moderna Mindsets you’ll need to succeed in the role:

  • “We digitize everywhere possible using the power of code to maximize our impact on patients.”
This mindset aligns with your responsibility to drive automation, reduce manual configurations, and implement Infrastructure-as-Code using Python, Ansible, and Terraform. You’ll be a champion for digital-first network operations.

  • “We behave like owners. The solutions we’re building go beyond any job description.”
You will independently lead initiatives, resolve complex infrastructure issues, and proactively contribute to network reliability and innovation, well beyond a traditional engineering remit. Ownership and initiative are essential for success in this role.

Here’s what you’ll need (minimum qualifications)

  • 8+ years of experience in network architecture, implementation, and administration within an enterprise environment.

  • Domain expertise in WAN, LAN, Wireless, DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM), VPN, OOB, Network Security – Firewalls, IPS, Secure Access, Network Access Control, Network Monitoring and Alerting, and Capacity Planning.

  • Strong technical knowledge of Cisco Catalyst/Nexus, Cisco SD-WAN, Meraki and Cisco WLC Wireless, Cisco ISE, Palo Alto Firewalls, Juniper SRX and Infoblox DDI solutions.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a customer-first approach.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare environments is a plus. If no prior GxP experience, the candidate should be capable of quickly learning GxP compliance and implementing best practices in regulated environments.

  • Demonstrated experience with network automation and scripting (Python, Bash, Ansible) to streamline operations and enforce Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.

  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to independently drive small to medium-sized networking initiatives.

  • A passion for emerging network technologies, staying ahead of industry trends, and recommending innovative solutions.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear documentation and executive-level reports.

  • Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, PCNSE, or equivalent networking credentials are a plus.
