Sr. Software Engineer

Job Purpose and Impact
The Senior Software Engineer - Pricefx Configuration Engineer will design, configure, develop and support scalable Pricefx solutions within Cargill's commercial technology ecosystem. In this role, you will translate pricing strategies and complex business requirements into maintainable calculation logic, data structures, workflows, integrations and user experiences that enable Cargill's go-to-market strategy. You will apply deep Pricefx and software engineering knowledge to deliver secure, resilient and high-performing solutions, bring clarity to ambiguous scenarios, and raise engineering standards across the pricing technology community.
Key Accountabilities
Pricefx Solution Configuration and Development

• Configure and extend Pricefx capabilities using Groovy, the Pricefx Groovy API and reusable calculation logic libraries.
• Translate commercial pricing requirements into deterministic solutions for price setting, quoting, agreements and promotions, rebates, analytics or optimization, based on the assigned product scope.
• Design pricing calculations including cost-plus, margin and markup, discounts, price floors and ceilings, segmentation, overrides, effective dating, currency and unit-of-measure conversion, and price waterfalls.
• Configure Pricefx data objects, including Products, Customers, extension tables, Company Parameters, Data Sources, Data Feeds, Datamarts and Rollups, using the appropriate object for each data and performance need.
• Build user-friendly configurators, input builders, result matrices, dashboards and approval workflows with clear validation and role-appropriate access.

Architecture, Integration and Performance

• Design scalable, flexible and maintainable Pricefx solutions and create clear architecture, data mapping, interface and solution design documentation.
• Define integrations and workflows between Pricefx and enterprise platforms such as SAP, Salesforce and other master-data, ERP, CRM or analytics systems.
• Develop and troubleshoot REST API and event-driven integrations using JSON, authentication, pagination, retries, idempotency and reliable error handling; collaborate with Integration Engineers on IntegrationManager solutions when required.
• Optimize large-volume calculations and queries through sound SQL, QueryAPI and DatamartContext usage, efficient joins and filters, batching, caching and avoidance of row-by-row or repetitive data access.
• Apply security-by-design practices, including least-privilege access, user groups, roles, data entitlements, secure configuration and appropriate handling of sensitive information.

Engineering Delivery and Technical Leadership

• Develop, test, integrate, maintain and troubleshoot Pricefx configurations using Pricefx Studio and IntelliJ IDEA, supported by structured calculation logs and representative test data.
• Establish automated unit, integration, regression, performance and user-acceptance testing for pricing logic, workflows, integrations and high-volume calculations.
• Use Git as the source of truth and apply disciplined branching, pull requests, peer review and controlled DEV-to-QA/UAT-to-PROD promotion through CI/CD pipelines and Pricefx deployment tooling.
• Lead peer code and design reviews, coach engineers and ensure solutions meet Cargill standards for maintainability, observability, quality, security and operational support.
• Partner with product owners, pricing teams, enterprise architects and digital technology leaders to clarify requirements, communicate tradeoffs and deliver incremental business value.
• Lead demonstrations and continuous feedback sessions, contribute to agile delivery practices, and identify opportunities to improve engineering processes and the long-term Pricefx platform vision.
• Independently resolve complex production and delivery issues, perform root-cause analysis, document corrective actions and escalate only the most complex issues to the appropriate teams.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of four years of relevant software engineering, application configuration or pricing technology experience; typically five or more years of relevant experience for this senior-level role.
• Pricefx engineering: Hands-on experience configuring or developing Pricefx solutions with Groovy and Pricefx APIs, including calculation logic, data access, inputs and outputs, workflows or dashboards.
• Programming: Strong Groovy skills or strong experience with Java or another JVM language, with the ability to quickly demonstrate proficiency in Groovy collections, closures, dates, decimal arithmetic, exception handling and reusable libraries.
• Data: Strong SQL, relational data modeling and analytical query skills, including joins, aggregations, filtering, null handling, data types, query performance and large-volume processing.
• Platform architecture: Working knowledge of Pricefx master and transactional data objects, Analytics data structures and the tradeoffs among Company Parameters, extension tables, Data Sources, Datamarts and Rollups.
• Integration: Experience designing, consuming and troubleshooting REST APIs and JSON-based enterprise integrations, including authentication and robust error handling.
• Engineering practices: Experience with Git, peer review, automated testing, CI/CD, release management, technical documentation, debugging and production support, with the ability to convert ambiguous requirements into maintainable solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Pricefx Configuration Engineer training, practitioner certification or comparable implementation experience.
• Experience with Pricefx Studio, IntelliJ IDEA, QueryAPI, DatamartContext, Packaging Tool, Maven-based deployment or automated Pricefx release pipelines.
• Experience in one or more Pricefx solution areas: Price Setting, Quoting/CPQ, Agreements and Promotions, Rebates, Analytics or Optimization.
• Experience with Pricefx IntegrationManager or integration patterns involving SAP, Salesforce, SFTP, HTTP, events, CSV, XML or JSON.
• Knowledge of B2B pricing concepts such as price waterfalls, segmentation, margin management, list prices, customer-specific pricing, discount governance and approval controls.
• Experience delivering secure, highly available SaaS solutions in a global enterprise environment and working with distributed, cross-functional agile teams.
