Job Description:

Overview

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of progressive experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex data center infrastructure, with a strong focus on enterprise storage and data protection. This role requires deep expertise in Pure Storage administration and design and proficiency with Cohesity backup and recovery solutions. The Senior Systems Engineer will be a key contributor to maintaining high availability, optimizing performance, and scaling our critical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Center Infrastructure Management: Lead the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of our on-premises and hybrid data center environment, ensuring 24/7 reliability and performance.

  • Storage Design & Administration (Pure Storage):

    • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for our Pure Storage FlashArray and FlashBlade environments.

    • Design, implement, configure, and optimize Pure Storage infrastructure for various workloads (VMware, databases, file services).

    • Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, firmware upgrades, and lifecycle management for all Pure Storage assets.

    • Manage replication, snapshots, and disaster recovery strategies leveraging Pure Storage capabilities.

  • Data Protection & Recovery (Cohesity):

    • Administer, monitor, and maintain the Cohesity DataPlatform environment, ensuring successful backups, efficient deduplication, and regulatory compliance.

    • Design and implement backup policies, recovery procedures, and conduct regular Disaster Recovery (DR) testing for mission-critical systems.

    • Optimize Cohesity usage for various data sources, including virtual machines, databases, and network-attached storage (NAS).

  • System Engineering & Architecture:

    • Contribute to the architecture and roadmapping of future data center infrastructure, focusing on efficiency, automation, and scalability.

    • Collaborate with network, security, and application teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with overall business and technical requirements.

    • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Mentorship & Leadership:

    • Provide tier 3 support and expert-level troubleshooting for critical infrastructure incidents.

    • Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge to elevate the team's overall technical capabilities.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 8+ years of professional experience in enterprise-level data center infrastructure engineering.

  • Storage Expertise: Proven, hands-on experience in the design, deployment, and administration of Pure Storage FlashArray and FlashBlade (or equivalent block and file storage platforms). Experience with Pure Storage features like ActiveCluster is highly desirable.

  • Data Protection Expertise: Deep, hands-on experience in administering and optimizing Cohesity DataPlatform for backup, recovery, and data management.

  • Virtualization: Strong background in virtualization technologies, preferably VMware vSphere (design, management, and troubleshooting).

  • Operating Systems: Proficiency in administering and troubleshooting enterprise Linux and Windows Server environments.

  • Automation/Scripting: Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation of infrastructure tasks.

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Pure Storage Certified Professional, Cohesity Certifications, VMware VCP).

  • Experience with cloud integration for data protection (e.g., Cohesity to AWS/Azure).

  • Familiarity with hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) concepts.
