Lead WMS architecture, define standards and roadmaps, mentor engineers, drive solution design and delivery, oversee releases and quality, and evaluate AI/ML innovations for WMS integrations and migrations.
Scope:
- The Senior Technical Architect plays a key role in guiding Blue Yonder WMS architecture for the Development & Support Services (DSS) team. This role is critical in defining and governing the best practices, standards, and roadmaps for all WMS Modification Developments, Migrations, and Integrations. The Architect is expected to champion quality deliverables and explore emerging technologies, particularly AI/ML, to deliver measurable ROI to WMS customers.

What you’ll do:
A. WMS Architecture, Standards & Roadmap
- Serve as the trusted advisor from DSS to various stakeholders, bridging the gap between business needs and technical execution.
- Define and govern technical standards, best practices, and roadmaps for all WMS modifications, migrations, and integrations.
- Conduct frequent architecture reviews, knowledge-sharing sessions, and workshops to elevate the DSS team's technical expertise.
- Ensure all WMS development and architecture remain aligned with customer business goals and DSS policies/standards.
B. Technical Leadership & Mentorship
- Identify and groom future technical leaders within the development team, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Take ownership of end-to-end project delivery and provide technical guidance to assigned engineers.
- Champion quality without impacting delivery timelines and/or efforts.
C. Solution Design & Delivery
- Provide technical inputs and High-Level Estimates (HLEs) to support pre-sales activities, including PRS responses and design workshops.
- Analyze customer requirements and business objectives to propose effective technical solutions.
- Participate in solution design and design review processes to ensure alignment with business and technical objectives.
- Prepare and manage software releases, rollouts, and patches, including release planning, scheduling, and creation of release notes.
- Ensure all deliverables, including code and documentation, undergo peer reviews and follow-up on feedback.
D. Innovation & Emerging Technology
- Evaluate emerging technologies (especially AI/ML) and assess their applicability to enhance the delivery experience.
- Collaborate with Data Science teams to integrate AI/ML models into warehouse operations (e.g., demand forecasting, robotic process automation).
- Champion Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs) and scalable AI solutions that deliver measurable ROI to WMS customers.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or Engineering or other relevant disciplines (MCA, MSc in Computer Science etc.)
- Total Experience – 12 yrs to 15 yrs
- Professional Certificate like TOGAF adds value to the role.
- Prior experience with ERP/Blue Yonder / JDA / RedPrairie WMS or other WMS platforms is an added advantage.
- Experience with Java, Ext JS, Java Script, PL SQL, Microservices.
- Experience in Python Scripting
- Experience in test management and test execution.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Use of AI Tools – Cursor AI, Replit AI, GitHub, Copilot
- Strong experience with source code control systems such as GitHub and Jenkins.
- Proficiency in working with Windows, Linux, and Unix operating systems, including command-line usage.
- Working knowledge of JIRA for issue and project tracking.
- Experience in tracking work using KANBAN dashboards etc
- Experience in handling development teams for Software package delivery, Code Reviews, Mentoring
- Experience in Code refactoring
- In-depth knowledge of software development best practices, build processes, IDEs, and database tools (e.g., SQL Developer, SQL Management Studio).
